...Trying to connect with Gene Baylos, just from memory, not searching him on the webs. Drawing a bit of a blank. A Herb Edelman he's not.

doesn't matter how many ways big mama thornton remade 'hound dog', every last one of them kills me.
  1:52pm Googie:

Lonnie Wright is from Great Bend, Kansas. He cut the record when he was in Texas doing training for WW2 . He put it out funded with his bunk mate ! It was recorded at the base radio studio with troop members as backing (Free form refers to recording off the cuff, which is the name they put on the label) . Lonnie celebrated his 94th birthday in 2014. I lost track of him around then .
  2:01pm Googie:

REX ! You know who played guitar on that Earl cut ! RENE HALL !!!
  2:02pm mike in STL:

  2:12pm Santos L Halper:

  2:15pm Googie:

No chance , Santos . The session sheets have Rene in black & white .
  2:16pm Santos L Halper:

googie: do you actually have that on CD/liner notes, or did you find that info online?
  2:25pm Googie:

Santos, the UCLA archive has tons of session sheets from the 30s-60s . It's a hoot to dig around in !
  2:27pm Listener Don:

Super good show Rex, thank you!
  2:44pm davefromtoronto:

how bout a set of "no brow" tunes?
  2:44pm Googie:

Santos, the sheets are not online. I have them on a drive. The public digital archive is a very small part of the collection at UCLA. You will need a uni card to dig on location. Have fun !
