Tonight we meet Pakistani guitar wizard Mekaal Hasan. Hasan's Indo-Pakistani Sufi-rock band MHB - propelled by his smoldering guitar workouts and the power-packed vocals of Sharmistha Chatterjee - is on tour this month, supporting their excellent third album Andholan, with a stop at Joe's Pub on Friday night April 22 as well as gigs at World Cafe in Philadelphia on April 24 and Masquerade in Atlanta on April 26. We'll give you a taste of the band's dynamic live sound tonight by playing unreleased live tracks from the band's show at Baroda in Gujarat, India in April 2015. Bassist Amir Azhar also joins in on the interview.

You could build a movie around this track (Live at Baroda). I don't know what movie, but this would be engaging music for it.

<like>The Byrds!</like> ;)
Avatar 8:09pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

It was reportedly David Crosby of The Byrds who sealed the deal w/ introducing Beatle George to Ravi Shankar. Ravi also of course influenced Jazz saint John Coltrane - who influenced this Byrds - which influenced all of Psychedelic Rock really...
