I did my interactive PDF presentation on Dio last week, and one page was a whole bunch of TV sets with little video links in them of him being interviewed, performing, in the Tenacious D movie, etc, and I turned them on all at once, and then proceeded to turn each one off. The kids loved it.

Charlemagne Palestine came and presented some of his early black and white videos to an experimental media and culture program I was in at the Evergreen State College in WA - back in 1986. One the professors, a guy named Beryl Crowe - a rather harassed Marcuse devotee who I respected very much - was definitely not impressed. "More like Charlatan Palestine," he muttered. Haha!

Phenomenology and collaboration among disciplines were very of the moment in the late 60's-mid 70's. Post hippy but zen and acid had been consumed by a lot of these people in the years before the works were made.

I think my ignorance of Tony Conrad was probably total.
...Checking my VelvetUnderground box set booklet for info...here it is in total - are you ready?:

...'A chance meeting w/ somebody-who-knew-somebody else @ Pickwick netted Cale & Dream Syndicate violinist Tony Conrad (a seminal experimental music figure in his own right) a quick-buck gig as the Primitives w/ Lou Reed...Angus MacLise, another LaMonte Young associate w/ deep connections in underground film & art (he also happened to live in the same building as Cale & Conrad), became the drummer'...

- & perhaps that's as it should be - but sounds to me like he shared more than an address w/ Cale...
