Where's the Prince? I didn't hear it last week, but I thought maybe you got caught off guard and didn't have time to incorporate it into your show. But this week? WHERE'S THE PRINCE?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:19am
coelacanth:

that sounds like my kind of bar!

coelacanth: It was in southeast Finland at my parents place. they live by the lake Saimaa. I was carrying water to sauna and saw that little owl on a tree.
Avatar 12:22am
Alejandroool:

coela, on the right kinda night yes, yes, it would be yer kinda bar. We have a HD full of films that belongs to one of the sound engineers, we play on the wall via a projector. We've got a small front room and a back room for 400 capacity shows etc. One of our first signs of Spring is when Acid Mothers Temple comes through here for their yearly tour

mauri:

It's a pygmy owl. it's about 15cm tall
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:29am
coelacanth:

alright - prince prince prince.
... but i have truly enjoyed hearing all the Prince rarities over the week; even though i haven't paid much attention to him for a few decades.
...i do wish there was more attention paid to the other significant losses over the last few weeks.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:30am

Mason Williams on line 1 for you, sir...

  12:33am
JakeGould:

Yeah, this station is not focusing enough on losses other than Prince… Like that guy who wrote the Mister Softee jingle… Get with it people!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:33am
coelacanth:

'Jandro, it sounds awesome! ...i don't thrive in crowded situations, so i still think tonight might be right for me though!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:35am
coelacanth:

Jake, i can't think....how's that go?
  12:36am
JakeGould:

@coelacanth: Pretty sure Bryce will have a 3 hour tribute to the guy.
Avatar 12:37am
Alejandroool:

oh tell me about cc, yes I like a sparsely attended low key bar. and NN's show is pretty spot on for right now.//
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:38am
coelacanth:

hey ya! Amazing set Nick!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:40am
coelacanth:

i dunno,Jake...mister softee music might be too commercial for Bryce.
  12:43am

Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:50am
coelacanth:

Thanks Jake! i really was hoping you'd hum a few bars on the comment board though.
flashbazbo, it's okay. at least you tried.
  12:50am
rw:

Nick, you should play some Prince for your wife.
  12:52am
rw:

Though personally I'm a little Princed out.
  12:53am
rw:

Did I hear that Bob Mould is a Resident? Could this be true? Seems so improbable.
  12:57am
MONEYBAG$:

he was formerly a resident.... of Prince's hometown
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:58am
coelacanth:

there's maybe 10-12 artists that are generally popular amongst fmu djs &/or commenters that i can't stand at all or much. i don't trust people who think they like everything that the cool kids say is okay.

hey rw.
i'm not quite Princed-out, but i've only heard maybe 6 hours-worth of tribute, total; and most of that's been rare stuff that is nothing like all the commercial stuff i've heard all these years.
  1:02am
man:

She's on Crack is amazing!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:04am
coelacanth:

that was a great version. i used to collect versions of caravan. my Duke Ellington versions are not as lively as this one, by far.
  1:06am
flashbazbo:

Yeah I put in some time. And I got accused of being a 70s rockist reprobate on some unhip forum.
  1:09am
rw:

coel, I caught the first hour of Matt Warwick's Prince tribute the other day. It was pretty great and not at all what I think of when I think of Prince, though it made sense that he would have those chops.

Also agree with you on that version of Caravan. Irwin has good taste and vast knowledge.
  1:09am
flashbazbo:

Caravan with a drum sola. Yeah baby
Avatar 1:10am
Alejandroool:

I enjoyed MW's tribute. I never had a good time to appreciate Prince, so I've been appreciating aspects of him now for sure.
Avatar 1:11am
Scraps deSelby:

I still collect versions of Carvavan. Thank you!
  1:13am
JakeGould:

I have always liked Prince, but was never that into Prince. If a new Prince album came out, I’d shrug… But if the singles got traction and they were my thing, I would be into it. The tributes and stories of his interactions with other musicians and people in general have made me appreciate him even more. The back story of how he has silently donated money to help children, musicians who were ill and even libraries are pretty sweet. And the story of how he played synth on Stevie Nick’s “Stand Back” is pretty amazing. He’s uncredited but it’s him. Dude was a mensch.

Hey p-90 / Ike / Fuzzy / man / JakeGould / lavery / rw/ flashbazbo / MONEYBAG$ / Scraps deSelby - thx all for checking in
  1:19am
Nick Name:

@ Fuzzy: the Bixio. Frizzy, Tempera - Facce Violente was pretty similar to classical gas , is that what you are referring to?
Avatar 1:19am
Alejandroool:

Realllly enjoying the Rob Mazurek
  1:19am
JakeGould:

Also, “Purple Rain” is an amazing film. I just rematched opening 15 minutes and there is this fast edit montage near the end of “Let’s Go Crazy” that is just pure genius.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:22am
coelacanth:

i always liked him, but not all of him. i have 6 albums, which isn't a lot, considering, and i usually don't listen to any of them through.(maybe controversy)...but his gift was obvious.
.....i just don't like most synth-based pop music.
.....what i've been hearing lately though is a revelation.
  1:23am
man:

idc about prince. Nick u play insane stuff. this whole channel is amazing.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:24am

i heard classical gas in there too. i didn't look; i assumed it was credited.

peace
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:26am
coelacanth:

oh and yes, i heard the first 1/2 of Matt's tribute today. Incredible!...the "black album" stuff? fucking insane!
Avatar 1:36am
Scraps deSelby:

I like that Richard Youngs stuff. Loopy-loop!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:45am
coelacanth:

Scraps, i was thinking you must have more "caravan"s than i, since i stopped collecting years ago; but also just realized that now -with the internet, i could resume that habit without spending a fortune....maybe even make it an obsession!
  1:55am
rw:

This Linda Sharrock is great. Seems it was recorded in 2014! Impressive.
Avatar 2:02am
