Somebody really needs to explore in depth the literature of liner notes. I once wrote a paper for a class on early modern history that examined liner notes of purportedly "authentic" recreations of late Renaissance musical ceremonies.

@Carmichael: re; blues: with me, as a teen, it seemed like a neighborhood supermarket sold blues tape for really cheap. All kinds of rock stuff, too, but I gravitated to the blues stuff for some reason. Later found out they were rather lackluster compilations that were maybe even semi-legitimate.
