Amanda:

Nobody needs to clean for that long a time.

Don't mind me, just downing a couple of pre-show plums.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:00pm

Hope they are plum delicious!

They were! It's a golden time for stone-fruit fans.

I've got some cherries, myself.

The Scenario is rocking the Atlantic Ocean. Blasting you out into the Stonington harbor, Amanda! Do the lobstah dance, ya'll!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:03pm
listener james from westwood:

Was at a party this Sunday featuring a 4-lb. Costco box of cherries. Ripe enough to make eating outside a wise move!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:04pm
Amanda:

Ah, so not just on the California Coastline, then. Glad to hear it :-)

Hello Amanda and all! Today has turned out to be cleaning day for me too.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:05pm
Jeff Golick:

After too much time in the sun, I do the lobstah dance.

Was in my Massachusetts hometown over the Fourth weekend. There was, as there always is, a sign upon entering the town announcing a "Lobsta Raffle." I know we SAY it that way, but do we really have to SPELL it that way, too?

hello!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:07pm
Ken From Hyde Park:

Hi, folks. I hope next week's GIF is a dancing lobstah!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:07pm
Jeff Golick:

Come to think of it, it's less of a "lobstah dance" and more of a "lobstah lie-down."
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:10pm
Amanda:

If you thought I chose this track because the riff resembles "Pleasant Valley Sunday," you'd be right!

Hi hi hi everyone and welcome to the show!

Killer cut here from The Third Eye!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:12pm
Jeff Golick:

Going through an odd period now where I have very little interest in dialing up my own music. Like, nothing can hold my interest, if I'm doing the choosing. It's radio or nothing. Anyone else suffer from this, from time to time?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:13pm
Doug Schulkind:

Driving north on 95 from outside Boston up into Maine, we traveled a long way behind a car with Mass plates spelling out LQBSTAH.
  12:15pm
P-90:

@Jeff Golick: I find FMU is the perfect resource for those times. Almost like it was created for that purpose.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:17pm
doctorjazz:

I get like that sometimes, can't decide on anything. A music player with a shuffle works when you don't feel like radio (and FMU is great for that, of course).
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:18pm
listener james from westwood:

Follow that LQBSTAH!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:18pm
Jeff Golick:

@P-90: Ha, yeah. It certainly relieves one of doing the selecting, while keeping it utterly surprising and fascinating.

Some years ago, I spent a day on Martha's Vinyard and there was a vehicle with Colorado plates spelling QUAHOG.

afternoon Amanda and everyone!

Mayuko:

Jeff G, I recently heard a well-known music producer (in Japan) saying similar thing. He said he figured it's because you can't get out from your own formula as long as you play stuff from your collection (and he did have a huge collection,) even when it's shuffled. But on the radio you never know where you'd be taken to and even songs you know sound different because the context is different/new. I thought it was interesting
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:33pm
Jeff Golick:

YES, @Mayuko. The new context is EVERYTHING. Something FMU selectors are particularly good at providing.

Whadoo ya get if you cross Jingle Dogs with Cat Stevens? The Tabbynacle Choir! :

The first ten tracks on this ML album were recorded at Berkeley's Long Branch Saloon, which closed many years ago. A few years ago a new Longbranch Saloon opened at the same location, but alas, no live music.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:38pm
Amanda:

I find Jingle Cats to be more of an acquired taste too, @steve... maybe I prefer the more "analog" sound of the Singing Dogs (Jingle Cats are much more synth'd).
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:41pm
Jeff Golick:

As someone who's father went to Beverly (MA) High School, I've always had a soft spot for that "Fly into the Mystery."

@Amanda, what's your opinion, if you have one at all, on "the New Monkees"? Anything redeeming there at all?
  1:49pm
Nate K:

After checking out YouTube, I'm going to answer this one for you: "No, nothing redeeming."
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:49pm

@Nate I have never even heard the New Monkees at all. They say that at least a couple of them were pretty decent musicians and enjoyed good session careers afterward...? I think.

listener james from westwood:

We had a surprise quartet of killdeers around the apartment bldg. for about 3 weeks. I was afraid they'd blown off course from the short, as they had the long legs of a wading bird, but evidently they like golf courses and parking lots. They resided on my bldg's lot until just about a week ago, offering birdsong I'd never heard before. No idea where they went.
