As an early 70s baby, I was too young to remember Dick Cavett or Andy Williams, and can only vaguely recall Flip Wilson and Merv Griffin shows. These days, I mix Andy Williams xmas album against Merzbow every yuletide. Backwards, forwards, filtered, chopped, etc..

Back in the Golden Age of late-night talk shows, Cavett was always the "thinking persons" host. His shows with long interviews with John Lennon and Yoko are highly recommended. Also his Groucho Marx and Kate Hepburn Shows

Well Cavett's affect was not that of a stoner. His timing was precise. I suppose it is possible he indulged, but his detachment was not suggestive of the door culture. But I suppose it is possibke. Pot was groovy, no argument.
