I play music that is old and that is new. Some of it is digital while some is analog. It is from many different countries; sometimes it is loud and at other times it is quiet.

Did you catch Gary's show this week? I'm only halfway through it but it's so great. The Gỗ Lim set is amazing. Uplifting music, depressing backstory. I already knew about Hang on the box, but I'm very intrigued by that band from Nepal. Later, the live show comes first

Good Saturday Mayuko, fred, and all! Bit of pre-hurricane shopping and I am ready to go!

Hi, fred, james, Mayuko and vertiguys & vertigals. I hope all is well out there today.
Avatar 12:05pm
Mayuko:

I couldn't tune in this past Thu, fred, I'll go into the archives and see(hear) what you're referring to! Hello, james! Pre-hurricane is the right weather for today's show, to me anyway. Want that uneasy feeling of before the storm!

Hello Ken! Thanks for tuning in!

Sorry it's been bad sound quality, just fixed the cable problem!!!!

I had a very weird dream this week, in which I was a 2D cartoon character. I was supposed to lead a dragon into battle but only got a green triangle with smaller triangles protuding. So I turned to the artist and said: that's no dragon, that's a lame stegosaurus with violet plates. The dream ended there, but the "violet dream" in the title reminded me of it
Avatar 12:19pm
Mayuko:

I wonder what YOU looked like and if your body parts consisted of triangles as well.
Avatar 12:20pm
Mayuko:

Sounds like artsy cartoon actually. and funny coincidence!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:22pm
fred:

I was basically a stick figure with purple blotches for feet, red ones for hands, and a violet triangle hat that was lazily cut and pasted from the beast's plates. I was looking at myself but somehow it was me in that dream logic
Avatar 12:23pm
mauri:

Hey Mayuko and minna

@fred Thats interesting and new to me. Ive never heard of someone being 2D in a dream. I've seen a computer game one but never been a character in it.

tea song as im making some. I used to listen to this song a lot and drink a lot of tea. I want six cups not one or twoooo.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:31pm
fred:

I want to hear Modular String trio live too (they're kinda the kind of act that could play at my fave venue, so this could happen)
Avatar 12:31pm
Mayuko:

@fred I take the responsibility for your lame violet triangle hat, I was sending some violet vibes to the world the last couple of days as I was prepping this show.
Avatar 12:32pm

I think my CD player just got exploded, I am sorry about that everyone.

Hello Mayuko and weekenders.
Just one more letter and you have a violent dream. So a nightmare. A night horse. Strange thing language.
Avatar 12:40pm
Mayuko:

I've had dreams where I don't exist in but I've never been two dimensional either I think.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:41pm
fred:

As far as I can tell that was my first 2D one
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:42pm
Brian in UK:

Dreams to me are kind of timeless (fourth dimension) so they have little sense of context.
Avatar 12:44pm
Mayuko:

Hello Brian! Thanks for tuning in! What is a night horse???
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:46pm
fred:

I wonder if that was the same Zenial I saw almost ten years ago. Same field, different vibe
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:46pm
Brian in UK:

Time for tea. Fish tonight. Better get my skates on.

Mayuko, just a play on the word nightmare, mare being a horse. Crazy English language
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:49pm
fred:

I'm sure there are Japanese words that should just as crazy if you translate the components literally. I actually love to do that with American idioms, which just confuses people

I was poking around on a web site and stumbled upon the Dream House in Tribeca. It seems to be violet-colored inside. www.atlasobscura.com...

Picking up garbage in Queens? Isn't that Garbage Time's job? Hi, Mayuko!

We really are eating skate fish. Well more a cartlidge than a fish.

Hey Joe.

@Mayuko - I checked the fill-ins page and your date for Samantha is the 13th, 3AM - 6AM.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:54pm

No Vertigo for two weeks? If you have a three-hour fill-in and Jeff M subs for you, I think I can make it through it (Noise and Syrup is a longtime fave)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:57pm

Kurasawa could make a film of it.

I meant, because the man had killed his colleague in dueling, he had to commit to harakiri. and she wants to die with him. Man, explaining things brings more confusion it seems!

Hello, maestro Mayuko!

Hi, Mayuko, I didn't want to miss the couple dying at midnight.

Ken From Hyde Park:

People's littering drives me nuts. I can't fathom just throwing trash out of a car window or onto a sidewalk or parking lot. Very nice that you're doing some clean-up, Mayuko.(Assuming that isn't a court-ordered punishment for littering.)
Avatar 1:23pm
Mayuko:

@Joe McG of course you don't want to miss it.

Hello Doug!!!!
Avatar 1:24pm
Mayuko:

Thanks Ken for looking it up! So I am filling in for Samantha on 13th, 3AM - 6AM ET!
Avatar 1:25pm
Mayuko:

Littering is totally uncool, I'm not only picking up garbage around but also TELLING people to do so. and that's true I should bring Matt W with me, people might take him more seriously than me because he is tall.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:30pm

OTOH, some litter helped me out recently. Daughter and I were going out for a canoe excursion while on vacation. The pickup had a loose battery terminal and a piece of foil from a stray gum wrapper was enough to get the vehicle started again.
Avatar 1:47pm
Mayuko:

That Cocteau Twins was the climax of this show... and this is my last track... Thank you all for listening!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:47pm

@Mayuko: You could play this first thing when you fill-in for Samantha. Nobody would notice at this hour. But I'd be listening and would love it
