Charlie: Ha ha! Bet you're right.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:16pm listener james from westwood:

Ooh, this ST Germain nugget is always welcome.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:18pm Parq:

James @ 12:04 to 12:05 -- oh, so that's what that glitch was. That's the thing with free-form shows - you're just never sure.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:20pm Parq:

Many's the time when, listening to programming and suddenly hearing a weird noise come into the mix, I've had to turn the radio off to see whether the noise was part of the programming or external.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:20pm Charlie:

Parq, I sometimes have to do that, even if I'm not listening to the radio.
Avatar 12:21pm ndbob:

afternoon Charlie and everyone!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:22pm Charlie:

Hey there, ndbob, what's shakin'?

Linda Perhacs is working on a new recording.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:38pm Webhamster Henry:

It's taking a long time! .. it was on Kickstarter, but decided she wanted to use a label instead of self-publishing, so cancelled the Kickstarter. www.lindaperhacs.com...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:39pm Charlie:

Good news, Henry!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:40pm Charlie:

Let's get her to play at Monty Hall!
  12:42pm jan:

Hi Charlie- Speaking of Silver Apples, did you see the Obit in the Times for Don Buchla- of the synthesizer by the same name? Fascinating.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:44pm Charlie:

hi jan -- yes, very interesting!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:50pm listener james from westwood:

Taking you mobile via the magic of the iTunes app, so thanking you in advance for what I know will be a delish second half!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:51pm Charlie:

Enjoy your journey, James:)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:53pm Parq:

This performance by Hathaway is tremendous.
  12:55pm testingwithfire:

Learning from Mr. Hathaway is NOT doing nothing :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:00pm Charlie:

hi testingwithfire!
yes, that guy could really wrap his voice around a song, and wrap a song around himself...
  1:13pm jan:

can't live with the world- lovely!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:14pm Goyim in the AM:

Yes, this is pretty damn gorgeous.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:14pm Charlie:

I thought so too, jan -- glad you like it:)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:15pm Charlie:

Hi there, Goyim in the AM!
Avatar 1:15pm geezerette:

Hi Charlie and mental flaneurs!
Avatar 1:16pm geezerette:

Drifting,floating,lovely.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:18pm Charlie:

hi geezerette -- flaneur is such a classy sounding word for idler. much nicer than slacker.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:19pm Parq:

Very autumnal sounding set, Charlie. I assume that's intentional.
Avatar 1:19pm geezerette:

haha, :D
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:20pm Webhamster Henry:

This reminds me a little of the soundtrack to Picnic, which is full of that Midwestern longing.
Avatar 1:22pm geezerette:

Love this Aaron Copland piece, and Benny Goodman.
Avatar 1:24pm geezerette:

This music is so at odds with the moment we are living through. Very soothing, hopeful. Thanks Charlie.
Avatar 1:24pm Roberto:

Will H! A fellow Wesleyan alum.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:25pm Charlie:

@Parq -- hadn't thought that! It just came together that way. But perhaps (perhacs?) the equinox is having an effect.
Avatar 1:25pm Roberto:

uh...I think the trio just broke a string.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:25pm Charlie:

Hey, Roberto -- didn't know that about Will H, or you!
Avatar 1:26pm Roberto:

Yeah I've probably said too much. In any case, I think the stream just went kaput.
  1:26pm Listening Out There:

I think Roberto's right. Audio went from accordion to (koto?)...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:28pm Charlie:

I'm trying to re-start the stream. I have to re-start the streaming computer. Sorry! Will be a minute or two. :(
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:29pm Parq:

This, this Hoshouser is a perfect example of what I was talking about earlier. All these disjointed pauses -- buffering problem? Turns out it's not, but I had to refresh the pop-up player a couple of times to be sure.
  1:29pm Listening Out There:

- Please Stand By -
Avatar 1:29pm Roberto:

And we're back...I think.
Avatar 1:29pm Roberto:

Oh maybe not.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:29pm Charlie:

no, not yet
Avatar 1:30pm northguineahills:

ok, we're back...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:30pm Charlie:

now we back
Avatar 1:30pm geezerette:

O.K.!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:31pm Parq:

Okay, for crying out loud, will someone tell me what I'm supposed to be listening to?
  1:32pm Listening Out There:

Heck, folks, it's Freeform Radio!
Avatar 1:32pm Roberto:

Is this really Charlie? I don't know whom to believe anymore.
  1:33pm Listening Out There:

Today's program is named Busy Breaking Something...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:36pm Parq:

So what was that plinky koto thing?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:38pm Charlie:

the koto thing was what was playing on the stream if I weren't on, which for that moment, I wasn't
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:40pm Parq:

So wait, the robot server is running even when there's a live program in progress? Oh, my poor brain, my poor brain.
  1:42pm Listening Out There:

Ooh, but Charlie...you'll share the URL for your alternate stream, no?
Avatar 1:44pm northguineahills:

I love this Warn Defever Remix cd, I picked it up once upon a time when he played at Other Music.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:44pm Charlie:

The Drummer robot server is *always* running. When I, or anyone on the stream, does a program, we are cutting into the stream. (Except, I think, for Doug, who does his program from where the stream originates. Maybe.) The stream *has* to be running in just such an eventuality of what happened here today. If my computer cuts out in the middle of the show, the stream would be silent. So the stream kicks in if my streaming software kicks out.
  1:45pm Listening Out There:

Does the Warn Defever sample Happy Apple? (Happy Apple is a side project of the drummer in The Bad Plus)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:45pm Charlie:

yes, NGH -- I love it too! esp this trk:)
  1:45pm Listening Out There:

...it does sound like Dave King's drumming...
Avatar 1:46pm northguineahills:

Yep, it's a remix of Happy Apple.
  1:46pm Listening Out There:

Thanks, Generous Host, for the explanation. Reassuring to know we will not be audioless in the event of a national emergency...
  1:52pm jan:

What a consistently stimulating program you've got today!
Avatar 1:53pm geezerette:

Beautiful show Charlie. :)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:54pm Charlie:

NGH -- I hunted down the Happy Apple CD on the strength of that track.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:54pm Charlie:

LOT --:)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:54pm Charlie:

Thanks for hanging around here today, folks:) You're a swell bunch!
Avatar 1:55pm ndbob:

excellent show Charlie!
