Good morning Martha, I haven't had the pleasure to hear your show live in far too long
  6:13am
Martha:

Hi Fred - how are you these days?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:20am
fred:

I'm a bit angry at myself because two shows I wanted to see were sold out. This hadn't happened in years, usually the reason I can't see a show is because it's canceled due to low bookings. And one was almost two months away. Are people getting into good music suddenly? That would be a hopeful sign for the station

duke:

Hi Martha, Fred. You're burning it down this morning.
  6:37am
Martha:

Hi there - thanks for checking in - and sorry about the shows - it may be that there just aren't as many of them out there these days???
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:59am
Dave in Vermont:

good morning

Sem Chumbo:

Good morning, Martha, duke and fred. My inner 17 year old approves of this mornings' music:-D

@fred: Zone One was the first Colson Whitehead to arrive. Devouring it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:04am
fred:

@Sem: It's a good hijacking of the Zombie hype. Not my favorite, but devouring is the right word. There's a sense of weariness that's almost always there in his work (Sag Harbor might be the exception)
  7:10am
Martha:

Hi there - thanks for checking in!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:12am
Sem Chumbo:

@fred: yes, that's the tone for sure. I did not it think it's representative of his métier, subject-wise. Powerful style, enjoying the ride. Thanks for the tip.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:17am
fred:

@Sem: Yeah, the subject matter is unusual, but he makes his own thing with it. I'm glad you like it
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:30am
fred:

These Superior Viaduct reissues are always great
  7:39am
Martha:

Yeah - we have the first two Fall lps plus ?I think? an ep that they have re-issued - I know that there are at least two more coming out - don't know exactly when they are going through - prob. says somewhere on their web site -
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:46am
fred:

A friend had a couple of his records reissued on this label, and he didn't know the release dates until they were pretty close. It's a small operation, so it looks like the schedule depends on how well previous releases sell, which is hardly predictable
  7:47am
Joe stalvey:

Sitting through this earn me a day off from church today?
  7:47am
Martha:

Yes.
  7:48am
Martha:

But you have to sit through all of it. And very, very still.
  7:49am
Martha:

Yeah - I can imagine their schedule is pretty dependent on sales - tho' these should do pretty well -
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:56am
fred:

Purling Hiss channeling REM, that's quite fun
  7:57am
Martha:

Yeah - totally NOT what I expected - a little NZ-ish as well - gonna follow w/ The Chills -
  8:00am
Mike Sin:

Well, hello, Martha! I'm wandering through the rainy grayness to fix a pot of vanilla-spice-cinnamon-pumpkin coffee... or whatever it says in the label. Nice to hear you on the air.
  8:01am
Martha:

Hi Mike - thanks for the good words and great to hear from you!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:04am
fred:

I've been clicky-starring Rakta a lot lately. I'd love to see them live. I guess I'd book early this time
  8:07am
Martha:

Ha!

Smog on the Tyne:

Howdee there everyone from a very drizzly Northern England where your tunes are making the world a far groovier place! ;-) Loved the track by Terry, never heard it before.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:15am
fred:

To be honest though, if it was a dance show, I'd show up there hours early and beg for the chance to buy a ticket at an inflated price
  8:21am
Martha:

Welcome to all from the Drizzly North - thanks for the good words -
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:23am
fred:

A Brazilian former coworker had a lot of funny stories about misunderstandings between Brazilian Portuguese and Portuguese. Not unlike Québécois and French, I guess

Bleak first thing Sunday morning. Must be Martha.
  8:40am
Martha:

Ha! - well, it is keeping me awake at least - and you missed all the good pop and spiritual bits earlier...
Avatar 8:41am
SiHV:

Yeah I slept in and then was having a deeply satisfying read of the Times before I remembered you were on. I'll check out the archive. Good morning.
  8:42am
Martha:

OOPS! - sorry about that...thought it sounded a little fast -
  8:43am
Joe stalvey:

Really enjoyed the show, Martha. Time for church now.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:45am
Sem Chumbo:

@joe stalvey: there's a Rastafari Church service coming up next here:-D
  8:46am
Joe stalvey:

They speak the blunt truth I hear.
  8:47am

Hello.Thought The Bleak track was Gojira at first
  8:48am
ami ad:

@Sem : Are Rastafari also Jesus freaks?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:51am
Sem Chumbo:

@ami ad: diverse interpretations of the doctrine. Here's the view from 40,000 feet: en.wikipedia.org...
  8:51am
Martha:

Good call on Bleak - gotta admit it's the second time I played that today -
  8:52am
Martha:

Sleeping in = Missing Fleetwood Mac [tho' that was quite some time ago - I think].
Avatar 8:53am
SiHV:

Ha, I see that. Great song.
  8:55am
ami ad:

@Martha - That Bleak track is much more raw, good
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:57am
Ken From Hyde Park:

It was certainly a pleasure to hear your show this morning, Martha. Take care until next time!
  8:59am
ami ad:

@Sem Chumbo, thanks for the link.Thought that Rastafari is a made up religion about Jah,not Jesus. Will read more about it.
  8:59am
Martha:

Morning all - thanks all for checking in and the good words - Nate K will be back next week - and apologies for skipping over the Suicide Commandos, was looking forward to playing "Call of the Wild" -
