I'd vote Lonnie Holley/Hearty White 2016. What would their slogan be though?

I really like this Kofelgschroa &c.!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:41pm
Dan Bodah:

@ranjit, it's great, right? Seems like a one-off. I found it on youtube, there are some other videos from that venue and with those same musicians.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:43pm
Dan Bodah:

This music is crazy. It sounds like there's a bagpipe tootling away in there when the backing drone singers come in, but it's just the weird way all those voices bend each other

Say Dan, have you seen the couple that does harmonic kissing? youtu.be...

Dan Bodah:

@Ken, yeah, I have seen the harmonic kissing thing. It's Tran Quang Hai's thing. He teaches harmonic singing and throatsinging workshops. I have seen him do that technique -- lifted from Inuit & Ainu throatsinging technique btw -- with a bunch of people in various videos.

@Ken: That seems a lot like Marina Abramović did in her “AAA AAA” piece. www.youtube.com...

great show Dan!

Dan Bodah:

@Ranjit, thanks for the link about La Quintina. I've played a fair amount of Sardinian 4-part polyphony and yes, I believe it has included that 5th voice. I always thinking of it as sounding like they create a harmonica effect. I have been thinking that the Albanian iso-polyphonies and the Sardinian polyphonic singing are very similar in this way. The regions are not so far apart and both seem prone to preserving pockets of older culture; when Listening I often wonder if this is what Homer heard. Tonight as I listened to the Albanian tunes I thought maybe this was how the Sirens sang.
