We were lucky to get a snippet of that world, late at night listening to WHFS in our bedroom. But this blew even that out of the water! I often wish music documentaries had two versions: one for the die-hard fan of the artist and a shorter version that's for the casual/new fan. I've seen too many music docs that I would have enjoyed more had they been 30+ minutes shorter.

You are killin' it tonight, Terese. Untouchables track made me head to YouTube to watch the excellent Free Yourself video. Dave Grohl & Thurston Moore indeed!!! LOL The epitome of the talking head for me was watching Gene Simmons gushing about the Dave Clark Five in some lame PBS doco.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:34pm

@BGZ: That would be a good idea for DVD/BluRay releases, include two settings you can watch for that. For the most part TV should show the short version, unless it's on Ovation or a more arty channel.

I think there's a "Scarface" (1983) DVD with their TV version included! So many "fucks" deleted out you can't understand what they're saying or what the plot is! :)

BadGuyZero:

The Criterion Collection release of "Repo Man" includes the edited-for-TV version. I don't have the set, but I read that there's deleted footage and alternate versions of scenes in the TV-friendly version.

The first two Superman movies had a bunch of extra footage added when they premiered on network television. I don't believe those versions have ever been released on DVD or blu ray.
