Favoriting Brian Turner: Playlist from December 6, 2016 Favoriting

Order and disorder in a freeform haze of terribly-played guitars, shorted-out electronics, found audio detritus, strange sounds from strange lands all around. Psych-punk-junk, collage, even pop. Lots of in-studio live performances to boot.

Are there any other US Aine O'Dwyer dates...?

Have seen two pieces by Richard Kirk on The Quietus site in the last two days. Now I get why is name is coming up all of a sudden.

I think it's because he's issued a couple of solo reissues.

Slayer are coming to Primavera Sound in Barcelona in June, my city!!
Avatar 4:02pm
Cecile:

Have you seen Slayer before, Clara? I've seen them twice. They bring some terrifying people out of the woodwork, and I've been to a lot of metal shows.
Avatar 4:04pm
Clara Sanchez:

@Cecile It will be my first time!! I think they´re one of the best bands at Primavera this year :-)
Avatar 4:09pm

oh my god. just checked Primavera;s lineup. it is fucking crazy!

@greenlight I´m a little disappointed cuz I expected Lee Ranaldo & El Rayo or Thurston Moore Group but...

greenlight, it does look amazing.

If you can see Sunny Ade at Primavera, that is a must-see. One of the greatest shows I ever saw.

This is going great with the fire alarm at the office that's been going off for 2 minutes and counting.

Annette Peacock at Primavera? Dang.

@Cecile Thank you!! Maybe it will be my last festival, I´m a little old for that... I´ll be careful ^_^´--- Sunny Ade? Never heard it before. Sure! I will!

he is a terrific Nigerian juju guitar player and his band is scorching. It will probably be one long amazing song.

We will supposedly be broadcasting again this year as of now currently invited again --- I hope we get to do Slayer! We got Venom last year ----
Avatar 4:23pm

I would see them both, Poly. In a heartbeat.
Avatar 4:23pm

that would be great, BT. Then I could enjoy them without all the Slayer-related BS.

@Clara Sanchez I am huge fan of Sonic Youth by the way. like I used to follow them since Sonic Nurse up till last one all over Europe all the time. met with the band members few times, know people running their web personally too. used to record their gigs and sending it to Lee especially. still catching shows there and there. the last one I saw was Lee with El Reyo in Vienna couple weeks ago. anyway, pitty they do not play this year, they are often on the Primaveras bill.

Dennis is NOT Styx. That current brand of macho cretins is rudderless without his sensitive, art-oriented guidance. Without his delicate, meaningful onstage hand gestures. I like him as much as Fabio.

Chris, Green Day! There you go. Good band. A little punky and loud for my tastes, but I'll bet the listeners would respond. Maroon 5 and The Fray would get an amazing reaction! Cecile, I am not Clay. I know who he is, but I haven't listened to him in years. He used to be sort of good.

@Whooda. I don't know. Elton is a little too "safe" I think. These WFMU DJ's really go "out there." Too far for me, usually, but the kids like it. Yeah, "Blue Eyes" might be good right now, actually. Or, I Guess That's Why They Call It The Blues."

Yoko. What a gal. I was fortunate enough to break bread with her at a Bob Evans in Fairfield, Iowa. This was back around 1971. She was doing some type of residency at the Maharishi International University with Mike Love and Al Jardine. How strange to encounter the three of them in Iowa of all places. Yoko and Al were pleasant enough, both of them mostly silent as they concentrated on their mantras and dined on their Patty Melts and Reubens, respectively. Mike Love was an odd bird, though. He sent back his food several times and earned the ire of the wait staff. We did bond briefly over his fear of impending baldness. I was already bald and I was able to reassure Mike that life would indeed go on, with or without hair. In fact, it was me who pushed him towards the ball caps which have become his trademark today. Interesting times that are sadly all but gone.

I don't understand Iggy. It seems as if he is not that great of a singer. He dresses poorly. It seems he is just a slab. A body. All abs and no jarring talent. Why am I not hearing a great singer like Daughtry or Bo Bice. How quickly they fade from our radar. Our loss.
