She had a student visa (grad school), but after they went through her phone, they found she had been working (at a NYC gallery), So, she had to buy a ticket back to Japan and told she couldn't return for 5 years. We already got an immigration lawyer on the case. (My wife is going her second immigration interview process right now since we got married, and she has a lawyer).

I'm a citizen, came to NYC for grad school w/ over $30K, and that evaporated quickly. I was Teaching, working, and djing, and it still wasn't enough. The visa semantics today are insane.

My take after that is he makes an important comparison/contrast to McLaughlin - also technically stunning, but perhaps straighter to the feeling, w/ broad inspirations across genres (reportedly seeing Hendrix specifically turned him around)...
