It's a good sounding show today (as usual).
@David D I have a crappy 8-track player which I'm not sure works anymore. also, a lot of my carts have issues with them.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:26pm

Description of the (quite amazing) premium CD:
Ridgewood Radio presents
Distressed, Disturbed, Disrupted & Displayed
A collection of unreleased, unorthodox audio hijinx from adventurous venues, clubs, and galleries across Brooklyn and Queens recorded and collected by the Ridgewood Radio crew in search of unconventional ensembles, instrument builders, circuit benders, software manipulators, and virtuoso noisemakers.

Avatar 2:27pm
Scraps:

When I was young and Catholic (not catholic; that still applies), I was Tom, and my grade had four Toms out of seven boys. That was early practice why I wanted to change my name...

When I was an adult, it was scary how many Davids there were. Velma said if you were a girl (and hetero), it depended on which David you got, evil or good. Coming out of childhood, you couldn't have a neutral opinion about Davids.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:28pm
Ike:

This is a heck of a lot more interesting than anything I hear on the Haitian FM pirates in southern Brooklyn (one of which interferes badly with WFMU). Mostly they just broadcast guys shouting about politics over Skype in Creole, heavily fractured by digital artifacting and echo.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:28pm
Charlie:

Henry -- perhaps your player is an opportunity to make some 8-Track Magic, as Gen Ken Montgomery did:)

@Charlie: Some of my tapes work better as percussion instruments at this point.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:31pm
weinstein:

@Ike: The Radio Shak archive at Clocktower is full of good stuff like this. That was why this Val Jeanty aka Val-Inc. session happened.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:31pm
David D:

Hello Ike and Kim!
  2:32pm
ruth:

Hi Ike and kim.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:32pm
Charlie:

Hi Ike and kim!
Yeah, this Val Jeanty is beautiful, as was the Hubble (bubble).
Avatar 2:33pm
kimgland:

hey ruth and all...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:33pm
weinstein:

Does Kim complete the connection? Was everyone here begat by, seduced by, or named David?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:34pm
David D:

Shouting about politics in Creole sounds kind of, um, interesting too. Not sure about that interference though, but there is probably not much anyone can do about it.
  2:36pm
ruth:

My first love was a David! He grew up in Tanzania and had a British accent.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:36pm
David D:

Of course you can pledge to WFMU via this link: pledge.wfmu.org...

$20 or more to be in the running for one of the following:

John Lennon/Yoko Ono - Two Virgins LP
Steve Reich - Four Organs CD
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:38pm
Charlie:

No Davids in my clan. Just Louis, Stan, Bob, Arthur, Giusto, and Salvatore.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:39pm
Ike:

@David D., it's usually over-driven and tough on the ear. Also the pirate could do something about it by not illicitly broadcasting at 90.9 right next to WFMU (at 91.1) and splattering all over WFMU's frequency. Same for the church preachy station at 91.3. Oh well, c'est la Flatbush.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:40pm
David D:

@Ike: That does sound irritating. I don't suppose they could be convinced to change to another frequency.
  2:40pm
ruth:

Slide your dollars this way to this slide guitar so smoothe it won't burn a bit .

ruth:

Into the way back machine once again with Mr. Weinstein
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:44pm

Is that a Rocky the Squirrel (speaking of Rockys) and Edward Everett Horton reference? (the voice I wished for)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:45pm
David D:

I like this sound!
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 2:48pm
Doug Schulkind:

No Rocky here, but plenty of squirrels. Greetings from Squirrel Hill, David and Ruth and all Ridgewatarians!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:48pm
ɨkɛ:

And they have 90.9 counterparts in Elizabeth/Union, NJ, as well as the Bronx, Queens (a Spanish-language pirate), and Paterson NJ (reggae). I think most people just have no idea these sources of interference aren't supposed to be there. I wish that, at the very least, some of them were more interesting.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:48pm
Charlie:

Wasn't Red Decade part of the Cleveland scene? Love their music.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:48pm

In addition to all the incredible live performances that Ridgewood Radio makes accessible, the truly incredible benefit is that all these vital, essential performances ARE BEING ARCHIVED. Twenty, thirty, fifty years from now, the documentation and preservation of the music scene in Ridgewood environs will be seen as an historic achievement. This is something worth celebrating and supporting.
