Traditions Des Khmou', Oï, Brao, Lao, Phou-Noï, Kui, Lolo, Akha, Hmong Et Lantene    The Lanten live mostly in the eight villages of the Gnot-Ou District of Phongsali Province in northern Laos, bordering China and Myanmar. The Lanten make their own paper from roots and leaves and developed a writing system inspired by ancient Chinese characters. They produce cotton cloth, wooden masks, and silver jewelry. The Lanten dwell alongside rivers and are also known as Lao Houay, which means "stream Lao."
