Well, "The Planets" is the ultimate proto-prog.
  12:15pm
Dean:

If that's the case, then Jean-Féry Rebel's "Le Chaos" from Les Elemens (another "The..." title) from first half of 18thC is proto-proto-prog.

@Tony, got it - thanks! I look forward to 'the best and the weirdest' - and the basement LPs feature in general. And I shudder at the "worst of the weirdest" should you decide to feature the worst of the basement boxes because we aren't behaving.

This is cool (of course, I have absolutely NO recollection of Morgan from my 70's listening; they're pretty cool, in that Prog Yes vein, which I didn't actually follow that closely, was into hippie stuff...)

Or, I mean, if you're familiar with any one of them. Maybe they were the toast of your town.

Dean:

My town hosted Eulogy, the guitarist for which went on to become Paul McCartney's regular guitarist. Eulogy was glam-ish, yet was featured in the first issue of Flipside fanzine. And Volker, Dunham & Heard, a trio at my high school who performed music for the drama department's production of Ibsen's Peer Gynt. They made at least one EP, of which I have a copy. "Military Man."

Yep. That's my gripe. That's usually the case with documentaries about musicians. To get access, one must focus on their current output, even though it's rarely as interesting.
