Hiya, Cheyenne, party.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:02pm
listener james from westwood:

That was the good thing about Pat Duncan's old punk show: three hours, like 500 tracks.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:02pm
Greg from ZONE 5:

Cheyenne! I finally remembered to listen live!
Avatar 3:03pm
Cheyenne:

HEY EVERYONE! Special HIIII to Greg from ZONE 5, welcome to the Listenin' Party!
Avatar 3:04pm
Cheyenne:

Yeah listener james - if you don't like a track, come back in 90 seconds!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:05pm
Greg from ZONE 5:

Great to be here!
Avatar 3:09pm
Cheyenne:

It's so much easier to do a punk show NOT on the airwaves. VIVA LA WEBSTREAMS!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:24pm
Sem Chumbo:

Why am I considering fastening my upper lip to a nostril, with a safety pin?

Again.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:24pm
Parq:

Did you ever see the political statement that was kept on Helen Keller's wall? Neither did she.
Avatar 3:25pm
Cheyenne:

@Sem Chumbo, you want that perma-sneer? It's a good look.
Avatar 3:26pm
geezerette:

All I gotta say is, girls don't mosh.
Avatar 3:27pm
Cheyenne:

Really, @geezerette? I was part of an all-girl mosh crew in high school. Probably why I have so many shoulder and neck problems now, lol
Avatar 3:28pm
geezerette:

Don't miss ducking beer bottles, but yeah, fashion.
Yeah, never saw girls in the pit but sorry I missed yer crew!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:35pm
Greg from ZONE 5:

I pretended to be punk while playing in a punk band, but I would go home and listen to Belle & Sebastian and Silver Apples…
Avatar 3:35pm
Cheyenne:

Yeah, it was a short-lived crew but fun for awhile there, @geezerette. Ah, the heady late 90s mid-south hardcore scene!
  3:35pm
Dean:

I got in and got out of punk in LA. Was active with Flipside for a time, attended a lot of shows, but wearied of its direction in the late '70s. (I chalk this up to X, whose popularity I have never understood.) During those earlier years there was very little aggression exhibited among audience members, and certainly not bottle throwing.
Avatar 3:36pm
Cheyenne:

@Greg yeah I struggled with my love for Fleetwood Mac and The Cure between spins of Minor Threat and Dead Kennedys
Avatar 3:36pm
Cheyenne:

@Dean I blame The Decline of Western Civilization Part I for X's lasting fame
  3:37pm
Dean:

@Cheyenne: For sure. That and Manzarek's involvement with the first album.

I've never seen DoWC.
Avatar 3:38pm
Cheyenne:

Worth a watch, it's pretty hilarious in bits. Part II will make you hate hair-metal dudes more than you thought possible though - beware!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:40pm
Greg from ZONE 5:

…but it will make you love Lemmy more than you thought possible!

–What do you think of the pretty rock & roll stars?
–Good luck to 'em, I wish I was.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:40pm
listener james from westwood:

Part II was angry-making when I saw it, even as I assumed some of it was shtick.
Avatar 3:41pm
geezerette:

Agree, Cheyenne! Actually loved part one. Would make a great double bill, though it would be surreal and funny now.
Avatar 3:41pm
Cheyenne:

@greg I can't love Lemmy any more than I already do! @listener james - it is absolute schtick, haha.
Avatar 3:43pm
geezerette:

The movies were like being in the clubs. Actually, the theater even smelled the same.
Avatar 3:45pm
Cheyenne:

@geezerette - ha! They just re-released them on actual DVDs recently (with a fourth installment/oral history feature). Haven't seen Part III or IV yet. I remember copies of Part I being passed around on VHS along with URGH! A MUSIC WAR
Avatar 3:46pm
geezerette:

That sounds great!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:50pm
listener james from westwood:

Lemmy = lifetime pass on taking the piss. Even now. In death. If he wants to show up and spook the normals.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:50pm
listener james from westwood:

URGH! was getting some love yesterday with folks posting Klaus Nomi for the eclipse.
Avatar 3:52pm
geezerette:

Poor Klaus.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:54pm
listener james from westwood:

"The Nomi Song" was devastating, but at least allowed the joy of the Nomi phenomenon to shine through.
Avatar 3:54pm
geezerette:

Thanks,Cheyenne & gang! Fun.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:54pm
Parq:

Never saw Decline, but I have Urrgh practically memorized after spending a whole summer listening to the album.
Avatar 3:54pm
Cheyenne:

Looks like it'll be just about 30 songs in 60 minutes today!
Avatar 3:56pm
Cheyenne:

Thanks for going on this wild ride with me today, everyone! Continental subway coming up: wfmu.org...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:56pm

Love this!
Avatar 3:57pm
Cheyenne:

Lots more Prefabs on FMA, @Greg! Check 'em!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:57pm
Sem Chumbo:

I went w/ the safety pin and now have the sneer to end all sneers. Thanks for the spins, Cheyenne. See you and all next time.
Unless this thing gets infected.
Avatar 3:59pm
geezerette:

ha, good luck Sem!
