Favoriting Hinky Dinky Time with Uncle Michael: Playlist from October 27, 2017 Favoriting

Turning over the toy box and jamming together the gloriously mismatched musical Lincoln Logs, Legos and Tinker Toys from Tin Pan Alley pluggers, pickled egg tavern weepers, lockstep soul ensembles, skinny-tie power poppers, Eurotrash ravers, moontanned art school rockers, drunken soccer anthems and anything else that seems like a good idea at the time. There are no guilty pleasures.

I recycled a 20 year old tv. It was a 36" color set. If I could have sold it in 1967 I could have gotten thousands for it. In 2015 it cost me $20 to have it taken for scrap.

I've said it here before, but as long as we're talking about their fresh-faced days: the Cars demo tape was played for a while on FM Boston radio before the first album came out, and when that fully produced work replaced the tape in airplays, I thought, "Whoa, whoa, whoa...too much, boys! Overcooked and gussied/slickified!" It felt more of an unfortunate arm's length away from the ear and brain, if that makes sense. Got used to it, though. Not an uncommon story, I'm sure. And in Cars case, their studio technique was to be like a branding or signature.
