Can we rewind the last 14 months and try again?

It was either this or the 'all are welcome' Christmas eve service at the Presbyterian church a few blocks away. Pretty sure i made the right choice.

@Jherweg: I want a valid explanation for why that four breasted manatee thing that Luke casually milked was in “The Last Jedi.”

JakeGould:

@NumberSix: Why? It’s not like that guy has a career outside of this stuff. He’s getting paid.
Avatar 5:40pm
Number Six:

Actually, he does a ton of voice acting for animation (best Joker ever) & video games.
  5:41pm
JakeGould:

@NumberSix: I was actually going to write “Please don’t mention that ‘Joker’ voice work he did because nobody cares…” Of all of the actors to come out of the original “Star Wars” he was/is the worst. And for an actor, a film career means more than voices in video games or an animated film.
  5:42pm
JakeGould:

It would have been great though if he milked that thing, looked at Rey’s face in disgust and then stared at the ground and simply said, “My life!”
  5:44pm
JakeGould:

Also, I hope that Finn learns how to kiss by the time the next film comes out. I’m Little Rascals shorts with more passionate kissing.

You're being too hard on him. I've met him and he's actually pretty cool. I don't think he gives a shit about being an actor. He's more interested in his family than Hollywood.
  5:46pm
JakeGould:

@AdamPysche: Ha! www.instagram.com...
  5:49pm
JakeGould:

@NumberSix: Well… 20+ years ago I worked for a dot-com and Mark Hamill had some weird cable show and he wanted to profile us. We were excited, said yes and then his people came back to us and said we could be featured if we paid their production company $500 or $600… So we said no since that was slimy and sad.

You know that episode of the Simpsons where Mark Hamill shows up at a science fiction convention? Pretty accurate. I liked Star Wars but I don’t hero worship.

Also… That 4 breasted thing he milked.

  5:54pm

@cklequ: You mean the first one from 1977 or the 4th movie that was the prequel from 1997?
Avatar 🎙 Swag For Life Member 5:56pm

I mean chronologically.
Avatar 5:58pm
Number Six:

@JakeGould: What can I say, everybody has different experiences with people. Going to sci-fi cons is my job and I get to meet a lot of these actors. Some are cool, some are dicks.

Yes! And you must wash them down with freshly squeezed green milk!
  6:15pm

And then turn to one nearest you you love, close your lips tightly and just push your heads together as if a kiss were a barely competent headbutting attempt.

JakeGould:

The soul-crushingness of the holiday season has passed for me because I am secular, and Jewish… But the buildup to Christmas this year has been fine since I didn’t have deal with patronizing folks who would ask me if I at least have a “Christmas tree” because even if I am Jewish, it’s still an American thing.

Yup, I’ve had that horsecrap shoved down my throat for decades. Even worse when I was kid since I came from an immigrant family and every schmuck—even kids—hears that and decides they will passive aggressively tell you how to be a “real” American.

I guess nowadays most people don’t feel like telling people how they should properly behave.

Anyway, happy you are filling in!

Jonathan, your musical choices for tonight are greatly appreciated. One, because I seriously dig this kind of stuff. And two, because it's such a relief from all of the Happy,Happy, Joy, Joy crap that's forced into your head everywhere you go this time of year.
