The Djembe is a great (and heavy) instrument with a custom leather case that needs some repair.

Not directly, but fairly close. Much of southern California has been on fire for months, mostly contained by now. Poor air quality north and south in Nov. Very sad for an awful lot of people.

I've had a love/not love connection to Mehldau, due in part to his ambition to try just about anything. On reflection, I see that that's a good characteristic. For example, on Largo he covers a Radiohead tune; it's the only way I can hear and enjoy Radiohead. But look at that discography, particularly the sideman roster! Those two Charles Lloyd records are gorgeous.
