Listener comments!
9:07am : morning, bob. just finished watching The Invisible Man. That's kind of a monster movie, right?9:09am : Hey Mike,
Invisible Man w/ Claude Rains? Awesome!9:11am : yeah, exactly...and Clarence from Its a Wonderful Life9:11am : ...Henry Travers. Don't want you to think I can't google.9:14am : Most of H.G. Wells science fiction has been made into movies, some cheesier than others. War of The Worlds, Invisible Man, Island of Dr. Moreau...I just read "The Nobody" by Jeff Lamire (graphic novel) which was a nice spin off the Invisible Man.9:17am : i thought the tom cruise remake of war of the worlds was crap9:17am : sorry, Jeff Lemire.9:19am : @Mike - well of course. Tom Cruise? need I say more? oh, right ...Spielberg.9:21am : hey, i've enjoyed pictures that both those guys have made. that was just a total misfire9:27am : love what youre playing this am.
Rland Kirk..beautiful. Happened to see him in the 70s
I guess he had had a stroke by that time but still managed to play
a few instruments simultaneously.9:28am : too many babies...i dont want bob to think he's runnin a daycare9:29am : Howdy kids!9:32am : Morning Bob9:33am : BOB that ROLANK KIRK piece was really cool. easy to listen to. perhaps not so easy to play these r the masters9:35am : WILL i seen ROLAND KIRK VILLAGE VANGUARD early 70s. was a treat. BOB you can dj my party anytime. always enjoying you long time9:52am : happy groundhog day, everybody. i hope you got good presents.10:36am : yeah baby10:38am : Nice show as always, Bob. Mike TP and others - there's a Roland Kirk documentary in production that I'm looking forward to. May be out this year. http://rahsaanfilm.com/10:43am : hey bob, if you're a fan of earle hagen's, there's most of a 5 hour interview with him posted on youtube. www.youtube.com...10:46am : Where do you get those funk brothers mp3's, Bob?10:48am : Paul,
Some Funk Bros. tracks were available on the web-if I can find the url I'll include it on the playlist.10:49am : thanks bob ah yes10:49am : Great, Thank you!10:50am : Oh SNAT Ruben and The Jets!10:51am : Connie T. - Nice to have royalty drop a comment!10:56am : Always with Brainen on the Brain:Falcons11:01am : great show, bob10:18am : Tons of Funk Brothers backing tracks are available on the Motown label karaoke CDs. All ORIGINAL!!6:50am : That "Spirit Girl" track is great. The first time we in the UK really heard Kirk was on the Mingus Oh Yeah album that was recorded in 1961. (And later in the great Roy Haynes' "Out of the Afternoon"). Everyone heard/had "Oh Yeah" - Davy Graham, Alexis Korner, Paul Jones were strongly influenced - but from this track it appears that it was far more Kirk than Mingus. I loved Kirk, we'd go see him at Ronnie Scott's as often as we could afford. No record ever really captured the live Kirk.
