Good afternoon Sean, βrian and all listening in today. That was taken yesterday at Paterson Great Falls in New Jersey.

Howdy, Irene and all! Sensational snap of the Falls!
Avatar 🥁 12:01pm

Actually, I recognized the falls from the movie.

Afternoon groovers. Hello Irene.

Oh how I LOVE me some Buena Vista Social Club....
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 12:08pm
Mx. Baba Bee (e/they) ⚧:

yesssss. I tried to do "Chan Chan" for karaoke, and it was challenging! Love this song.
  12:08pm
Listener Robert:

Ooo, I've never seen the falls from down that low, only from the pedestrian bridge or above.
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 12:09pm
Threemoons:

@Mx BB -- if you didn't see the PBS special/documentary about BVSC, go dig it up...IIRC it's also on all the major streaming services. Have watched it several time. Worth it on all levels, especially the ending....
  12:10pm
Listener Robert:

I should have written "Oo-oo-oo-oo" to go with your, "By a waterfall...".

Irene Trudel:

Howdy to you, james, David, Mx. Baba Bee, Threemoons, Annabella, Robert and coelacanth∅! All in good company today.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:18pm
Irene Trudel:

Robert, we first stumbled on the bottom end of the falls, then drove around and found the top. Can't believe we never went there before.
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 12:22pm
Sean in Bristol UK:

A beautiful spot,
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 12:22pm
Mx. Baba Bee (e/they):

Threemoons: cool! I saw it when it first came out, but not since. I could surely use a refresh of it, and probably appreciate it on a deeper level than I did back when.
  12:22pm
Listener Robert:

Ms. Trudel, the falls would be a great tourist attraction if only the good views weren't in a narrow gorge that limits their visibility.

Meanwhile, ha-ha, I had in mind the very different "I'm calling you" lyrics from the Indian Love Song. I figured "by a waterfall" was in there somewhere, seems anything fits the Indian Love Song.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:29pm
coelacanth∅:

lesson of today: we can be Thankful for narrow gorges that limit visibility.

Hiya Stork and Michael. Yeah, I was hoping for one more good beach day yesterday but we got a little of that September chill yesterday morning and just decided on a random drive. We'd been meaning to see the Paterson Falls and went on the spur of the moment. A good choice.

Good morning from the West Coast, Irene and everybody! Ah, the Lovin' Spoonful's Six O'Clock - haven't heard that in years. Lovely!

quietly listening as usual, while working in the home studio (except when I roasted an eggplant on the stovetop for later baba ghanouj). Lots of garlic should go well with Irene Trudel's program.

YETI BOB, Not surprised to hear of that book and assessment of the Passaic River. The scene was a little spoiled by the stinkiness of the water.

Irene: The Passaic is improving, but it still has a long way to go. I grew up right along it, but in a much less-polluted stretch, closer to the Great Swamp and the river's origin.
Avatar 🥁 2:16pm
βrian:

I grew up near the Flint River. We stayed clear.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:24pm
Irene Trudel:

Glad to hear that, YETI BOB. It's a beautiful sight, stuck in the middle also of an extremely downtrodden area in Paterson, NJ. I know the folks from Speed the Plough live nearby in one of the prettier areas. And βrian, what I've heard about Flint is unfortunately quite heartbreaking. I'd wondered if this Vijay Iyer piece is his tribute to the people in that area.
