Evidently, yes. He has only two listings in Fanfare, one John Paul Ekins, the other John-Paul Ekins. Curiously, I didn't see the name anywhere in the booklet, but I didn't read it top-to-bottom.

Skimming Fanfare online afforded me the chance to see an ad for this: https://www.prestomusic.com/classical/products/9366859--mozart-the-piano-sonatas-on-mozarts-fortepiano

Listened to a Dean-linked sample of the Mozart played on Mozart's OWN ol' fortepiano. My unfounded presumption expected a more limited sound, not the burnin' speed and facility actually demonstrated. Instrument's sound quality is like a saloon piano...that's in tune.
There's some YouTube to check later of same pianist at those same keys, and lecturing.

I will do the same, still b/p. But I fear I'm going to acquire the set no matter what. The reliquary aspect of "Mozart's own" is kind of hard to pass up. And I know that Levin is a very talented pianist, a frequent performer for ECM.

Dean:

The Fanfare reviewer writes, "This is an essential and truly different recording of Mozart’s piano sonatas. Besides the completed fragments and Levin’s tasteful and always interesting ornamentations, the use of Mozart’s own piano is extraordinary. The range of dynamics, phrasing, and touch puts Levin’s interpretations in the same league as Uchida, de Larrocha, and Pires. There are competitors playing copies of old fortepianos, but this is the real thing."

That gets dangerous, doctorjazz. I will explore over the course of the day. For now, I'll share that yesterday I played some of this Sibelius box: https://www.prestomusic.com/classical/products/8829234--sibelius-the-7-symphonies
I recently got from Presto a bunch of discs, including that box and another complete Sibelius with Berglund conducting Bournemouth. The latter includes older recordings that I've long enjoyed. For fun I played the Vanska 5th followed by the Berglund. My favorite may yet be Berglund, but the Vanska performance on SACD, which is a bit slower, was so much more revealing of the orchestral color. Loads of detail without the risk of shrillness that once came with digital.

One day, Doug, I'll recite the reference question that keeps me up at night. Suffice to say that a faculty member made the inquiry in 2018. He seeks a known item from the '30s, a document(?) addressing the legal history of a Black church in or around Richmond, VA. I *know* it's out there somewhere, but have yet to find it, even though it is cited in an important early history of "the Negro church" in America.
