This tribute sent me down a Band related rabbit hole in my mind. I remember reading about Richard Manuel's death in Rolling Stone right after he passed. I was 13. In my mind it seemed like the time between Manuel's death in 1986 and the band in their prime 10-15 years earlier was like a gap of decades. I'm glad Robbie had a full life and career in music.

It's interesting. Dylan being Wordy & an early indication of Rawk being 'serious Art' has often been held up as antithetical to Punk.

This one comes with its own subwoofer, listen to that bass n drum thud! This and Primitive by Thee Groupies are my fave 6ties punk tunes atm.

Yes, "SHINDIG" was one frantic way of presenting contemporary rock. Dylan and the Band surrounded by caged go-go dancers gives me chills just thinking about it!

My recollection is that most(if not all) of the performances on "Shindig" were live. Everything on "Hullabaloo" was lip-synced, Dick Clark American Bandstand-style.

Donovan strikes again! Was also the name of the club that put on hardcore shows when I was a yoot! Lots of DC hardcore bands passed thru the stage at thee Electric Banana

Gerry from Miami:

I can remember seeing Doug Sahm and the Sir Douglas Quintet on " Hullabaloo" doing their first big hit, "She's About a Mover." Their record company at the time seemed to ignore their Tex-Mex origins and made them dress up like a British "pretty boy" band, frilly shirts and all. Lucky for us, they found a way to express their true selves and style before that charade ruined them.
