Is this sounds from a forest?

hey northguinehills, enjoy the soundwalk!
Avatar 7:24pm
Jesse Kaminsky:

hi ?!
This is kind of a fictitious forest, here's wha the artist wrote: "Night infuses" - an almost sleepless night in the Knuckles Mountain Range.

A few hours drive from Kandy, the cultural capital of Sri Lanka located in the heart of the country, rise the Knuckles Mountain Range These mountains and the hills that surround them have the particularity of being a climatic microcosm of the rest of Sri Lanka because all the climatic conditions of all areas of the country are represented in the massif. There, between the jungle and the tea plantation, let the night fall on our base camps in order to listen to it ...

The idea here was to (re-) build a very naturalistic soundscape (biophony - geophony) but where the sensation of my presence (voice, movements, manipulations, breaths ...) and that of the guide (and the chef de camps) allow to draw a dramaturgy, if not narrative, at least inhabited, lived, and by the same more dynamic, even more immersive, than a simple dehumanized landscape.

The trajectory takes place between nightfall, and, through a timeline that is not quite "realistic" (flashback - anachronisms - repetitions ...) to reach us until daybreak. In order to get through this night, we make our way between dreams, daydreams and obsessive flashbacks like so many acoustic remnants of daytime waking times. This very special night, almost white - let's say "gray" - a night of auditory drunkenness spent stripping the night and all those who inhabit it, inhabit it, share it.

Thank you for sharing this explanation. It's nice to listen to nature since it's cold and we're not outside. I like the sounds of the bugs and animals, there's a drama to it, to me---I'm sure their lives are very dramatic in ways we don't know about.

is the stream down?
Avatar 7:35pm

I have the same question. I'm getting silence (or a track so quiet it's not coming through).

Ah, there we go!

I just paid $18 for the worst hummus and falafel pita I've every had, I was spoiled in Brooklyn....

I was watching a podcast this weekend, and one of their cats jumped on the mixing board, silencing them for minutes. an hour later, another jumped on the laptop killing it for almost 15 minutes....
Avatar 7:56pm
Ike:

Cat hit the fader again, or is my internet down?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:58pm

Avatar 7:58pm
Jesse Kaminsky:

No kitty this time Ike, could be the internet?
Avatar 7:59pm
Ike:

Never mind, you're back now. This time the silence only lasted 10-20 seconds maybe?
Avatar 8:00pm
northguineahills:

There was an amazing Israeli place (the had an organic veggie name, but I could hear them speaking Hebrew), that had the best falafels and hot sauce in NYC on my block for $6. I miss that place.
Avatar 8:01pm
northguineahills:

ok, I had three streams of GTDS on, so, I had an echo effect going on....
Avatar 8:01pm
Ike:

@NGH, I got really terrible hummus in Essaouira, Morocco in 2019. Turns out they don't eat much hummus in Morocco, and it was a tourist trap... though I suspect not intended for tourists like me. The other customers were speaking something other than Moroccan Arabic. Maybe standard Arabic, but I'm not sure.
Avatar 8:01pm
northguineahills:

I'm stuck in tourists hell, Ike, so, this explains it....

hi drummer streamers, Jesse.

Jesse, i was thinking of listening to your fill in for Sewelson's show last Saturday, since I just heard the last 30 minutes or so. it didn't get archived, is that final or is archivibg pending?
Avatar 8:13pm
Jesse Kaminsky:

Hey WR! That was such a fun fill in but I had to move my whole streaming setup for it and was a little out my normal routine, I forgot to hit record on the local backup. Normally not a problem but the streaming computer at the station had a hiccup so that show is for the myst of time unfortunately
