Hi Mark! Great intro to tonight's show and a topic we scratch our heads over often. I can only conclude that a majority of people are looking to tune out in public. I'm not sure we can blame technology any more than people's willingness to allow it to be all consuming. People seem to want to be disconnected from their surroundings. It began before smart phones. Like, Walkmans allowed people to tune out with headphones on in public. With each advancement in technology people found more ways to tune out and the smart phone has really magnified it. Crossing the street in NYC while having your phone up to your face really seems like, as a society, we've hit rock bottom.

One problem with the fetish for real estate and losing spaces like The Magic Factory involves America's loss of soft power, which was actually a vital piece of all the good parts of American geopolitical success. Of course, for decades it never occurred to me to go searching for some alternative "best bagel" because we always just picked up the bagels from the Broadway & 80th H&H (GONE!), then picked up a big beautiful pile of hand-sliced nova from Zabar's next door (the old guy behind the fish counter is dead now!) and it was hard to imagine anything better.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:02pm

Yes - H&H was a viable competitor. But now there can only be one: Absolute Bagel.
