	1:24pm The Donut King: @PaulRobeson1980 - minimum wage at the outset was .25/hour, so $10/week. Even in the late 30s, that wouldn't have been enough for a single income to support a family. As I recall, it's purchasing power was greatest in the late 60s but even then it would've be a stretch for a family of four. Which OF COURSE isn't to say that I don't think it should be a living wage - I think it should be $25/hour - just that it's never really functioned that way in the US.

	2:14pm Mike Sin: The Brian Jonestown Massacre was one of the greatest shows... that I've walked out on! Background -- The band was playing Maxwell's on a weeknight, and they went on and played one of the longest shows I saw there. I think they went on at about 11pm -- I bailed at 1am and they still had the audience grooving. It was a fantastic show.

The first 45 minutes they played 3 songs and Anton spent a great deal of time abusing the dude that called out for Free Bird. He even challenged him to come on stage and play it, offering him his guitar. The dude actually did, until Anton had enough of it. After that the abuse continued, so I left.

As I recall, it's purchasing power was greatest in the late 60s but even then it would've be a stretch for a family of four. Which OF COURSE isn't to say that I don't think it should be a living wage - I think it should be $25/hour - just that it's never really functioned that way in the US.

	2:14pm Mike Sin: The Brian Jonestown Massacre was one of the greatest shows... that I've walked out on! Background -- The band was playing Maxwell's on a weeknight, and they went on and played one of the longest shows I saw there. I think they went on at about 11pm -- I bailed at 1am and they still had the audience grooving. It was a fantastic show.

The first 45 minutes they played 3 songs and Anton spent a great deal of time abusing the dude that called out for Free Bird. He even challenged him to come on stage and play it, offering him his guitar. The dude actually did, until Anton had enough of it. After that the abuse continued, so I left.
