michael z, thanks for saying that. Some people I know don't care for "Velvet Goldmine" but I love it. I often play their versions of songs like "TV Eye." Sacrilege, I know! And tim, yes, I have all Douglas Sirk's films in my library!

As long as we're talking Tacoma (a VERY rare occurrence, even in the PNW!) allow me to give a shout out for Jankuland on 6th Ave., my very favorite new record store, which opened against the odds during the quarantine. Small and classy and delivering the goods in a BIG way. You MUST check them out when you go to see Habibi in Tacoma!
  3:42pm
Miss G:

Sheila B, I really feel like I went to a gig hearing your description, thank you! It will be a little minute before I can go out so it's very thrilling to hear about folks who do! (I wish I could see Creek and Kills live as I so loved their recent work but. . .one day!)

@Miss G: I'm not a fan of romance films, but All That Heaven Allows by Douglas Sirk is the best romance movie I know. Even Rock Hudson is not too bad.

Loved Tod Haynes' VELVET UNDERGROUND doc... it is really a portrait of a moment in time in NYC- the avant garde, Jonas Mekas and experimental filmmaking community that Warhol circled in... The film it works very hard to show the multiple facets of Lou Reed, who is such a difficult subject to capture vs John Cale, who I really adore and who participates in the film. Anyway. Make sure it is LOUD when you watch it... the sound design is special.

Dear Tim, what an interesting order. It’s clever to straddle. That way you don’t have to make a choice. I think I would straddle the first album and Loaded though. The third album is perfect but New Age, Sweet Jane and Nuthin’ are so good, and the first album of only for Heroin’s transgression and that incredible bass line of John’s in the vamp out on Waiting for the Man. The great thing is that VU fanatics can have these discussions and change their minds depending on their mood.

I call these feelings *heart squeeze* moments. I feel a bittersweet physical sensation - the music just grabs ahold of my heart & squeezes. It’s an “oof” moment. Tears. Goosebumps. Music holds my heart & I trust her.

My special musical emotional moment: They're Comming to Take Me Away by Napoleon III.

There is a void coming… No one briefed them with authority enough… made them dunn fuck up… maybe I’ll never get the job i was made due for… homeless or gargoyle with clipped wings and a curfew. Double deco for me. Pole sit it was a thing. Austin kist its clock and New York highlighted its. So be It .

The musical chills, the physiological reactions to music are not to be underestimated, are definitely to be marveled ay, but they can also, many times, be explained. For example, "Dear Someone"- my guess is that it's the iv minor chord that is eliciting the reaction.

An all falsetto guy show by @DjSheilaB could be quite an awesome experience. I could come up with a massive list myself. My best to my favorite pampered cat, Alvy Singer.

Yeah, she really fought. She wasn’t ready to go. She had survived so much, Holocaust, poverty, so many things she was really offended that she had cancer. All of that to end up with this?
