Jan Turkenburg:

Dutch word of the Day: strokarton!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:15pm
Paper Kosmonaut:

There is a big cultural difference however between Oost Groningen and for example het Hogeland which in the west of the province. 'Strokarton' is cardboard made from straw and water. Lots of it was made in Oost Groningen.

Avatar 1:35pm
Mr Fab:

I've noticed that in recent years, "Maxwells Silver Hammer" seems to be regarded as the Beatles worst song, right up there with "Ob La Di." Tho it's hardly my favorite, but still, a jolly tune bout a hammer-wielding murderer is at least somewhat interesting and unique, no?
Avatar 🦝 Swag For Life Member 1:36pm
Jan Turkenburg:

I certainly agree with that.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:38pm
Paper Kosmonaut:

I have removed Obladi from all of my iPods. I loathe it. I actually just can bear 'Maxwell'. The limit is Don't Pass me by but it is funny because of it pompousness. There is an early version of obla which is bearable though. Completely different rhythm.
Avatar 🦝 Swag For Life Member 1:38pm
Jan Turkenburg:

To me Yellow Submarine and When I'm 64 are worse than Maxwell's
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:40pm
Paper Kosmonaut:

The lyrics of '64' are all right I think. Submarine is a kiddies' song, I think it isn't really bad. But it always has been a hit or giant miss with McCartney songs.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:42pm
Paper Kosmonaut:

McCartney had a thing with oumpah songs. Why, for Pete's sake? His dad's showtunes perhaps?
