Loving the set. Slept until the last minute today; was up until 2:30 AM last night talking to my best friend from college who had lost her Mom to pancreatic cancer hours before. Had at first said I would just throw clothes on. Then thought maybe I could sneak in brushing my teeth/washing my face. Gripped by exhaustion and indecision, I am still sitting here naked on a towel placed on my office chair, wondering if they would notice if I stepped away for a fast shower....it's one of those days. I'm so tired my hair hurts.

Veteran's Day...just a reminder that many people perished also as part of domestic wartime efforts at home, either in factory accidents or long-term illnesses from exposure to toxins...like my Grandpa whose job it was to pack asbestos in between walls of ships under construction at the Bklyn Navy Yard. They gave him a pair of cotton gloves and part of his wages were in unfiltered cigarettes; extras above and beyond those gotten with ration coupons. He also got more ration coupons, but he spent 12 hours a day plus picking up asbestos...and then touching his cigarette...lather rinse repeat.

I'm a nutritionist and you are right, protein is not the end all. You can't overdose on protein but it has calories so keep that in mind if you are counting calories. Fiber is what people REALLY need to worry about. Lack of it in processed food is the biggest problem of processed food in my opionion. Also, it's a myth that words with starting with "wh" are supposed to be pronounced with the "h" sound. Classy people tried differentiated themselves from the masses by doing this but there is no historical basis for this. Yes I'm being a pendant about other people being pendants

I've got Histamine Intolerance (chronic allergic reaction) and Interstitial Cystitis (angry fucking bladder) now (thanks to all the mold, shitty landlord!), so... Any artificial flavoring or coloring makes my abdomen in agony, and even "natural flavoring" sometimes. Such foods also makes me break out in hives most of the time, as does anything canned, or just kinda old.

Also, the Angry Bladder demands no caffeine, no chocolate, no tea, no coffee, nothing spicy, nothing acidic, nothing citrus.

More context:

- Minimally processed foods — such as bagged spinach, cut vegetables and roasted nuts — are often simply pre-prepped for convenience.

- Foods processed at their peak to lock in nutritional quality and freshness include canned tomatoes, frozen fruit and vegetables and canned tuna.

- Foods with ingredients added for flavor and texture (sweeteners, spices, oils, colors and preservatives) include jarred pasta sauce, salad dressing, yogurt and cake mixes.

- Ready-to-eat foods — such as crackers, chips and deli meat — are more heavily processed.

- The most heavily processed foods often are frozen or pre-made meals, including frozen pizza and microwaveable dinners.
Avatar 2:44pm
Fox:

Oh, but as far as processed foods goes...

This awesome journalist went undercover and used sexism to her advantage to get into these crazy food conventions where these companies show off their creepy food processing chemicals. And because the chemicals are used in the "processing" they aren't considered an ingredient.

Best proteins are from natural foods: meat, fish, chicken, eggs. Plant based proteins may lack some of the essential amino acids. If you engage in hard exercise you really only need 1/2 gram protein per lb of bodyweight. Yes, older adults need more becuse of digestion handicaps.
