Turning over the toy box and jamming together the gloriously mismatched musical Lincoln Logs, Legos and Tinker Toys from Tin Pan Alley pluggers, pickled egg tavern weepers, lockstep soul ensembles, skinny-tie power poppers, Eurotrash ravers, moontanned art school rockers, drunken soccer anthems and anything else that seems like a good idea at the time. There are no guilty pleasures.

Uncle Michael:

There are just 21 days until the 6th annual Hinky Dinky Time All Listener-Request Show!

There are two ways to make your request. You can either use the form at tinyurl.com... ..., or you can leave voice mail at (201) 204-9350.

If you leave voice mail, please pause after the tone before starting your recording, identify yourself by your WFMU listener name (or first name if you don’t have a listener name), and speak strongly, slowly and clearly. Note that leaving voice mail constitutes permission to use your recording on the show.

Feel free to also leave a Hinky Dinky Time show I.D. If you wish to do so, please pause between your request and your I.D. The format for an I.D. is "This is [listener name] and you're listening to Hinky Dinky Time with Uncle Michael on WFMU's Give the Drummer Radio." You can get more creative if you’d like, but please include that information.

Thanks!

@Marie - punk wasn't so much a type of music, as a time in musical history.
And a big hello to Uncle Michael. Happy to be able to tune in.

Joe can shove his cigs you-know-where.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:30pm

I'd agree with Stanley, it wasn't so much a musical style (bit, did it harden into one), but an attitude, coupled with sneering vocals.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:30pm
Stanley:

Hi Uncle. Loving these seventies 'hits'.

I would use the Brit slang for cigs but some of y'all might find it offensive.

@Marie - if you look at the Stiff Records catalogue, you'll see that in the main part it's just good ol' rock n roll (The Damned being the exception), with a gnarly attitude, as Dr Jazz said.

@hyde--yes, I saw Prince live, in the round, back in the 90s and it was, not surprisingly, truly awesome. Sometimes it really makes sense in terms of the space

I wish the surviving core members of Yes: Jon Anderson, Rick Wakeman, Steve Howe, Alan White can reunite for one last tour. Tony Levin should do bass as he did with AWBH
