Now that I've looked into it, I see that Picardy 3rd at the end of "Happy Together" is just another example of these knowing things in art wherein the artist puts in something meaningful that shows they've studied a lot and that they know some, though maybe not many, of its receivers will "get". Creative things, no matter how lowbrow people may think they are, are chock full of that stuff for people to notice.
