Not much has changed on Seabury Ave. Still City owned garages, just w/ a new brick facade.

rw:

Fun and interesting are neither synonymous nor mutually exclusive.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:18pm
Sam Segal:

Welcome, Mark! Glad you dug that Qawwali too. A 10-minute track that could've gone on another 20 for all I care.

How about (Howard) Finsteresting...

www.finster.com

did a pilgrimage to his paradise gardens in rural NW GA in 1996, right before he died.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:18pm
Sam Segal:

Mutually exclusive! That was the term I was searching for. Right you are though, rw.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:19pm

Franco Twinkie:

Hi Sam. When I was a senior in high school I had a teacher who went to junior high with Mark Volman and Howard Kaylan. He let me bring this album to school one day to play in class. Him and I were the only two people who enjoyed it. Everyone else endured it with a face that looked like they were watching a movie about oral surgery.
  10:26pm
rw:

Pretty fun to see how interesting this set is turning out to be.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:26pm
Sam Segal:

Evening, Coel!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:27pm
Sam Segal:

@Mark, that has a better ring to it than "interfun."
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:29pm
Sam Segal:

That's an amazing story, Franco. I imagine it wasn't the last time your musical interests alienated the general public.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:30pm

Constantly.

Homemade mochi, NGH? I love mochi.

@Sam: no kitchen here. But there's an Asian grocer nearby,,,,
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:35pm
Franco Twinkie:

Sam, My teacher told me this: At a lunch time assembly in junior high, Howard Kaylan stood on the stage and sang a really stupid song and was pelted with sandwiches and bananas for his effort.
Avatar 10:35pm
northguineahills:

(but mochi, was one of the few things I learned to make when I took a cooking class when I was a kid in Japan).
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:37pm
zzz:

what a lovely song
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:39pm
Sam Segal:

Another tune I've had stuck in my head all week. Glad you like it, zzz. Sad this was a posthumous album from Pat Fish (The Jazz Butcher).
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:51pm
Franco Twinkie:

It was fun! Now that you got that out of the way, bring on the bitter pills.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:30pm
Sam Segal:

I forgot to categorize this set, but I think it leans interesting.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:44pm
doctorjazz:

This is really interesting, have to say...
  11:45pm
rw:

Back when I used to shoot film I would run into porn stars occasionally at the photo lab. There are several universes all smashed up next to each other and occasionally we get a glimpse.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:45pm
Sam Segal:

I feel like the title "Daydream Mechanics" really works for this one.
  11:54pm
rw:

I've heard a lot of interesting music working from home today. Much of it in the past several hours. Thanks as always Sam (and everyone).
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:56pm

Always honored to be of some interest, rw! Thanks for working with me.

Lovely ending (I assume it's the end), loved my time here.
Thanks, Sam!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:00am

But of dissonance there, not what I expect from Brahms (not that I'm a Brand expert...)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:01am
doctorjazz:

Bit of disonance,,,
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:01am
Sam Segal:

Could be a bit of an unorthodox interpretation from this quartet, as they primarily play new music.
  12:03am
rw:

Looks like they're playing in La Jolla not so far from here soon. Might have to look into that one...
