Good Evening Therese and All, I'm settling into another Wednesday of trying to balance work without being too distracted by this great show. Cohen's back up singers Perla Batalla and Julie Christensen perform an incredibly beautiful version of this song in the film "Leonard Cohen: I'm Your Man".

Leonard Cohen is one of the strangest artists. Sometimes have a hard time taking him seriously. Sounds like he's singing badly technically. But he is really is great.

The Leonard Cohen exhibit at The Jewish Museum in 2019 was really great, very creative rendering of his work combined with vivid montages of his performances.

@robm: if only it were that localized...

speaking from dallas, where today a high school student was spotted walking toward school carrying what appeared to be a rifle. student was found in the school, without weapons, but weapons were found in his car. one was identified as a paintball gun and the other not clearly identified. he was arrested. this is the high school by my house, where both of my kids graduated. the kids around here have been "playing" a tictok challenge where they chase and shoot each other with soft pellets from devices that look authentically like real guns. i nearly ran over a couple in a parking lot a few weeks ago, and then a car full of kids shot at the kids I nearly hit, spraying my van with pellets. happened again in a fast food drive thru the other night. someone's gonna call the cops on the teens and they're gonna get shot for real. so stupid. so sad. no idea if the kid today was "playing" or planned something much much worse. either way, stupid stupid stupid...

but yeah, this can, and is, happening everywhere. we just are far less inclined to do anything about here in texas.

I remember buying this CD and sticking it in the car stereo to drive around a largely empty Los Angeles on a week night in December 2004. I just kept driving and listening to the record. It all seemed appropriate. I will never forget that solitary evening od driving and music. Since then, I've seen Mary Timony a few times; she is an incredible guitarist.

The Smiths and Belle and Sebastian is a logical transition. I saw Belle and Sebastian for the first time on this tour at Radio City Music Hall. They performed a lot of older songs which was great.

Hey Therese! Great show! Been bustling about. Making dinner & such, interspersed with occasional incoherent screaming at the TV. Not much time for the boards, etc. But permit me to jump in to defend Pittsburgh. Grew up there, still have a house & in-laws/relatives there. I left in the 80's it was bleak. (Thanks, Reagan.) Now it's much different. Great music scene, arts, the Warhol museum, etc. And without Pittsburgh & Philadelphia, the entire state & it's electoral votes would be f*cking Kansas. Just sayin'. Plus inclines.
  11:28pm
Rick A:

I've been to Pittsburgh a couple of times. I spent the beginning of spring break there in 2006. Of course, Pittsburgh screams spring break. We spent the next few days of spring break in Detroit. I enjoyed my time in Pittsburgh and would be happy to return and spend more time there. It's a city that seems a little too sports focused though there are other attractions as others have pointed out.
