Favoriting Cratedigger's Lung with Rich In Washington: Playlist from June 3, 2022 Favoriting

Rich in Washington's avatar View Rich in Washington's profile Favoriting

A three-hour exploration of excavations from the farthest reaches of humanity's hellish collective brain, through records, tapes, CDs, mostly scoured from country bumpkin thrift stores, creepy charity shops, backwoods junk stores, and even the internet - all mixed live. We don't judge, we just play 'em. Hosted by Rich in Washington.

"A dense, pulsing "action song," whose verses deal with America's intimate relationship with firearms: "The gun and the Bible carved this nation out of the wilderness," a man exclaims. A tradition unfolds that links the voices of the past as we know them through television cowboy movies and gangster films, to the modern Annie-Get-Your-Gun, the business woman of the 'eighties with her handy sub-machine gun. An evolving patchwork of movie excerpts and TV ads, statements and information about guns, and of certain phrases repeated like bullets."

coelacanth∅, they were like a loop - they were used in radio cuz they would cue themselves up automatically (if i recall correctly - been a long time since I've seen one.) Often used to play things like ads, PSAs, etc.

They were a really robust format. they would instantly play and then snap back to the beginning point.

Weapons are war those tools… the bullet tumbles end over end as it leaves the barrel… guns r tools designed to speed the act of killing that is it & most Americans own these things ar-15 because they are fun to shoot at the range

Hi Rich. I'm going to be the outlier here and talk about guns. Years ago my father and I went to see his family at an undisclosed location. We were standing in a parking lot in the middle of the day when my uncle brought a box out of the trunk of his car. Inside was a chrome plated fully automatic Uzi machine gun. I said let me see that. I was hefting it in my hands and my father was giving me a look that said - put that thing down right now! I handed it back to my uncle and asked him where he got it. He said the chief of police. I asked him it he shot it. He said no, but my cousin took it to the dump and unloaded a clip now and then.

Weapons of War**
In Vietnam the m16 AR was used - 3 round bursts- 1st bullet ripples the flesh at supersonic speed and the 2nd bullet tears a hole the size of a grapefruit- these things r weapons are war…
