MDMA is the same as recreational Ecstasy (when it is what it says it is on the street). It is considered an Empathogen - which means it potentially gets you in touch with your real Emotions. Yes people party with it for pure sensation & sensuality - & it is more physically impactful than the Psychdelics generally; MDMA is a hybrid Amphetamine. But the Therapeutic value of really getting in touch with your Feelings should be obvious.

@RevRabbit but, one needs to be careful if they have any kind of neurological issues, including a head injury (closed head birth injury here), seizure issues/seizure potential, etc. It makes it really hard for folx who need depression treatment as a RESULT of such a life-changing injury; the list of antidpressant meds that don't cause a serious chance of seizure is pretty short and dosing needs to be managed carefully. Luckily my neuropharmocologist is a very good listener and also part of Federally funded research for using 'street" drugs for various conditions....

threemoons - indeed. No Medicine is right for Everyone - or even the same person all the time perhaps. Certainly worth noting. & 'uneven results' with anything Psychedelic is no surprise. Depending how anything is defined - always. What intrigues me about this current era with Cannabis is that one can isolate THC & CBD from each other & find a particular ratio of one's choosing. & great knowledge about particular strains cultivated. Michael Pollan observed that no plant in History has been cultivated like cannabis has! & I haven't smoked since *1987* ...if actions speak louder than words, in fact.
I might be especially concerned about MDMA & neurological particularities. The 'A' does stand for Amphetamine. It's almost as if it brings one to a height of nervousness from which one hanglides & soars emotionally... Almost the opposite of LSD which builds to a changed perception (rather than emotions) - & the re-entry (to use the SpaceAge term) is the turbulent end of the curve...

Hi SheilaB, Ignore this if you don't want to answer...I'm a bit embarrassed to ask you but have thought of it several times... I missed it when you came back after your 4 hours at the museum. I'm curious to know what painting you ended up choosing and how it all went. Also, I want to thank you for recommending the book 4000 weekends - I read it and thought it was great!

I learned something really cool regarding records yesterday. For work, we toured the Washington Talking Book and Braille Library in Seattle. For context, each state has a talking book and braille library (as part of the library of congress) for visually impaired patrons.Prior to audiobooks on cassette, the talking books program would press audiobooks on 10" vinyl records at 8 RPM. I'd never ever seen an 8 rpm record before. The director explained that 8 rpm was used to get more content on the record but most significantly it was uniquely proprietary to get around any copy existing copyright laws. The libraries would provide 8 rpm players.

@Franco T. There is a Lotaburger about a mile from my house on Juan Tabo near Indian School. It has a nice view of the Sandia Mountains! Once we went there to get to go then drove to Elena Gallegos open area picnic shelters and had a really nice dinner picnic last Easter!

In the early 90's I used to SLEEP on the subway on the F train, from somewhere around Cooper Union to Kings Highway near the 24 hour bagel shop.

That makes me happy Neil. I love Americana but not some of the more odious aspect of American culture and ideology. So be it.

Log Lady:
Margaret Lanterman said her final goodbye near the end of Part 15, speaking to Deputy Hawk (Michael Horse) over the phone and telling him, “You know about death; that it’s just a change, not an end.” The Log Lady’s speech was heartfelt enough to elicit tears, but the moment was even more emotional as actress Catherine E. Coulson died from cancer two years before the scene aired on television.""

@Franco-Rte 66 (Central Avenue) is an American Cultural Conundrum of the highst order. There is Nob Hill which is near UNM which is NICE but high crime (murders all over ABQ, 86 so far this year). but other areas are high crime combat zone. Seligman AZ has a NICE Rte 66 section with a town that was the basis for Cars' Radiator Springs nd the Roadkill Cafe which is outstanding. Then there is a town ini CA (I forget the name) has homeless people bickering and a trailer park (not a nice one) along the Rte 66. ALL locations have the cool retro neon signs as there is basically no rust out here due to little rain.....
