Good morning Brian, Scott and all! This is the second time this week I've heard this blast from the past on WFMU - that's probably a record for WFMU!

G'day Don!🍻😎🤙

Don in Tampere:

Happy end of midsummer weekend. Had a great one here in Tampere, with a free festival on the lakeshore and a chilled afterparty in my front yard with a few friends last night, listening to my WFMU tchotchkas that arrived yesterday.

Hello all. Sorry for the repetition @Don.
  3:11am
hey:

I get an echo cause I have the station on in two rooms. Hi brian.

Don in Tampere:

No problem with a repetition of a good song!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:25am
Brian D:

Glad you got your Swag, @Don. You won some prizes, too, as I recall.

Hello brian and all , I'm drinking my sunday morning cafe . I feel very lazy today ! Sorry ,what was the band with the female singer after RBCF ? (already listened to this song but not remember what it is)
Avatar 3:37am
Foutracbaldisco:

(The playlist doesn't mention this song I think)

Wasn't it Jana Horn ?
Avatar 3:42am
Foutracbaldisco:

Yes , I'm quite sure it was Jana Horn ! I love her music , and American Friend one too .
Avatar 3:43am
Don in Tampere:

Yep, I got a few prizes, which I probably can't listen to until I get back from a work trip to Oslo this week since today is dedicated to weed cutting at the cabin (which still doesn't have a kitchen floor, which is why I stayed in Tampere) and a rehearsal. Also looking forward to listening to the Currents compilation, maybe on the way back from the cabin. If the signal is good, I'll be listening live on the way there

And yes, what happened in the USSC this past week was scary

Deepest solidarity with you people over there in the US. A dark day, yesterday. Thank you for explaining again. Cheers from Germany.

Indeed, @outside. And it was George HW Bush. I was right the first time.

Greetings Brian and listeners. I just slept for almost 12 hours, hadn't happened in years
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:48am

Hello Fred! Jealous.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:55am
fred:

Pro tip: go to shows most of the week, coming home well after midnight, while renovation work is going on right outside your window and they start at 7am Monday to Saturday. That did the trick for me
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:59am

Jackhammering right outside my window every weekend, Fred.

It’s that moment,
when the bedroom is dark
and the sky is beginning to lighten.
A small window in this room faces east
and it looks like someone
hung a water color painting on the wall

If nothing else, I keep my promises, Fred. Hello Lix.

Morning all!
Brian are you familiar with Stefan Cristoff up in Montreal? He’s a tireless anarchist, classically trained pianist that collaborates with all manners of musicians, many from the Middle East, in support of the Palestinian cause.
Check out Stefan Cristoff or anarchist mountains on Bandcamp or @spirochristoff on IG for his work!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:32am
Brian D:

Hello Kevlicki. And thanks for the tip. I know Stefan's work.

Doesn’t surprise me! Had to plug him cos He’s an old comrade, and I am always impressed with his output

I'm sorta obsessed with Montreal stuff...

Thanks for mentioning Meghan Stabile. I had never heard of her, she seemed to have been a force. The obit mentioned Savion Glover; I saw him once, and that was a good show
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:47am
Brian D:

Yes, Fred. Her death is very tragic. She was so important to the jazz/hip-hop scene in NYC in recent years.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:55am
Brian D:

Well folks, that's about all for me. Thank you all for your ears, attention and inspiration. Stay safe and have a great week!

There's a jazz festival in Paris that usually includes hip-hop. Its tag line is the Zappa quip "jazz isn't dead, it just smells funny". I haven't been there in years though, the prices went up too steeply for my taste (and means)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:57am

Thanks Brian, keep the fire mate!

I am not crazy Brian , I was not dreaming or listening to something else during your show , I was listening to your show and after 23 minutes after its beginning , a beautiful song that I had already listened to was played . It was not Rolling Blackouts Coastal Fever as it was/is written in your playlist . And it was not either Jana Horn as I thought , as I had had written it in the comments and mentioning there had been surely an oversight (or mistake) in the playlist . You didn't look for an eventual mistake from your own , or didn't want to admit it , and I felt your answer to me was a bit cold and disdainful . That's all ! Not so important in fact . So the band was not RBCF neither Jana Horn , It came back in my mind , it was the band Widospeak and the name of the song Salt . Have a good sunday Brian .
