One of my favorite parts of Step Brothers is the band that only plays 80s Billy Joel. People in the crowd keep calling for "Piano Man" or something from The Stranger, till the singer loses it and yells at one of them "Yeah well why don't you get the fuck out of here with your skank hooker wife!" leading to a general brawl.
Never been a huge Doors fan, though I have warmed to them a bit over the years, but I can't imagine any other song but "The End" opening Apocalypse Now, so all is forgiven.

BillyJoel only one mentioned here I have a notable allergy against. & FMU-Js have played something by him I thot was not terrible.
Main thing to me is not being force-fed anything - & having some variety in a big world saturated with Musics - a great(er) %age of which I've never heard before @ all or even too little. FMU steps up as powerfully here as anything Ive encountered in my (increasingly long) life - if not more. (New era of course of access.)
Having said that ...it is interesting how we've come utterly full circle from the Punk short fast simple ethos back to Jammers. But @ this historical remove - why not.

Idea that the Abstract is paradoxically more Universal - as everyone has an inside perspective. The purely Realist or Representational is alien & stark to everyone...

Idea that Music & Language are centered for us in somewhat different lobes of the brain ...& Articulating the qualities of Musics is ...what exactly...
Sisyphusian ? I find it an interesting exercise. Which takes real practice - @ the very least... In Philosophy, debate is almost always predicated by Definitions - so yer talking about the same thing to begin with. With Arts ...words will require Poetic perception & Technical understanding alike...

Pentangle’s version is great but also Olivia Chaney with the Decemberists (they called themselves Offa Rex) have a version that’s amazing. The lyrics are so unusual for a folk song from this time/period.
