“Gordon Lightfoot” always sounded a bit like a slightly whimsical name for a pony anyway. Or a kitty.

Well… I just checked the actual lyrics and ehm… howling tho, is what counted. I guess.

Or I'd crawl to you baby and I'd fall at your feet
And I'd howl at your beauty like a dog in heat
And I'd claw at your heart, and I'd tear at your sheet
I'd say please (please)
I'm your man

Speaking of Ginsberg, read an interview with Gary Snyder recently where he said being labeled a ‘nature poet’ was the kiss of death, this surprised me.

Probably not true anymore, but there was a time when nature poetry was considered corny I think. "A poem as lovely as a tree" and stuff like that.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:48am
Jim the Poet:

Nature poets are pretty cool. Gary Snyder was pretty great!
  7:53am
Toothgrinder Tom:

Still amongst us and going strong as far as I know. I think what he meant was that calling someone a nature poet was a way for the community of poets to dismiss someone, as in ‘oh him? he’s just a nature poet.’ I was surprised because I see this label applied so frequently to so many poets like for example Robert Haas, Mary Oliver, etc.
