I have a new sense of those almost unbearably beautiful sunsets now.

I've gone to my office and back, twice. I sat outside on the ferry, masked and wondering. I found it hard to photograph, as if my designed in California phone couldn't accept that it wasn't bright and sunny. I went to see my halal guy for lunch. "Someone fart in Canada, we smell it here!" he said. Then he told me about looking for his favorite long-lasting perfume. That a halal guy might be particular about his scent never crossed my mind, and it makes perfect sense.

Believe me, I sympathize. We've had a couple doozies of wildfire seasons up north that have blanketed this region in ash and hideous layers of air.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:46pm
Gary:

My mom's had some of that as well, I've heard the stories
  8:48pm
Dean:

The way I see things, though, is that these crises only illustrate with abbreviated intensity what we all have opted to tolerate over the long run. I lived for decades in LA, east side of the county. Some years the smog was so thick we couldn't see the fucking mountains that on more clear days were *right there*!

Heh. I don't know who makes them, but he was hoping the reopened Century 21 has them again. He talked about how they closed during the pandemic. I wondered if that weren't a displacement: the previous time that store closed, the air was full of smoke, too.
