Get your disco pants on, my lovely Modernists! :-)
Avatar 2:38pm
Mr. Oxford:

Hey DJ GG!

The first time I heard about the Harvey Wallbanger drink was two weeks ago while watching a comedy video about a terrible Reality TV show called Bar Rescue. In this show, a team of bar experts rescue bars from going out of business. In one episode, one the experts shames a bartender for not knowing how to make a Harvey Wallbanger. That show is a train wreck.

Hello, lovely Mr O! :-)
I do like a bit of train wreck TV tho ;-) Are we talking "so bad it's good" or just BAD?
Avatar 2:45pm
Mr. Oxford:

↳ DJ GeorgyGirl @2:39
I think it maybe under "so bad it's good" category. I watched a YouTube video wherein two young comedians were watching an episode and making jokes about it. It was funny in that context. But I haven't tried watching an episode by itself.

This was the video I watched. Those two comedians are even younger than me and their humour may by a bit cringey for some. But I happen to enjoy it haha: www.youtube.com...

I've just bookmarked that for my later viewing pleasure! Thank you <3

It's that time of day (summer only) when the set begins to set and hits the windows of the building opposite, so I am currently crouched behind my laptop screen to avoid blindness. Lol

Luckily, it's only for about ten or so minutes but it's BRIGHT and it shines right into my eyes if I sit up straight at my desk. Lol

Having said that, there's an ENORMOUS dark cloud floating past the side window so it could all change ;-)

The weather in the UK is like the buses - if you miss one, another will be along in about five minutes, and usually there's two or three ;-)

Are we all sitting comfortably tho, with cocktails in hand? :-)

Same here in Estonia this summer. It's burning sunny, then pouring rain, then clear skies but super windy. All in the span of 8-10 hours.

On the other hand it is a perfect example of a maternal society-idea. men are like bee-drones, good for that one thing and useless for the rest.

I am just looking up Jackie Collins and her work. I am surprised to learn they were made into movies too.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:15pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

↳ Stanley @3:14
The thing about Jackie Collins, trashiness aside, is that she was a damn good author. All her books operate in the same universe so you have recurring characters in different series :-)

I'm wondering if there is a trash style that is particular to women. (As opposed to the masculine trash of Mickey Spillane, etc.) Or is this a backwards and politically incorrect suggestion?

The trash movie/novel that most fascinates me is A Summer Place (1959) starring Sandra Dee and Troy Donahue. It was made just before the outbreak of the Sexual Revolution (just before the introduction of the Birth Control Pill). The conundrum for writers/directors of the time was how to squeeze in as much sex as possible without actually showing or acknowledging people "doing it."
