Peter, I'll be writing details in a reply comment on your blog, but short version is that I heard a Thai vocalist on the drummer stream doing a version of a soul song written by a New Orleans musician that I met long ago. Your blog enabled me to find the full album, etc. Like I said, I will soon write a comment on your blog, but want to sincerely thank you now while it is fresh in my mind.

I was in Kenya and Rwanda-generally, when I tried to ask someone about recorded music (CD's, LP[s), at first they had no idea what I was talking about (and it wasn't the English issue). Eventually, when they figured it out, the told me that nobody buys CD's or other recorded music (and there aren't any stores for these), they all just downoload onto memory sticks. Nairobi was the only place that had a record store or 2, but we were only there 2 nights, after they all closed. (I did have someone trying to sell me stuff in a gas station sell me a ripped CD of what is supposed to be local music-haven't played it yet).
