Semi-related, while in Nanuet, NY, I once drove past a tree that had to have like 30 vultures in it. Glad to see these big birds thriving as they perform a important function in forests and wherever else carcasses are to be found, and too often they fall prey to poisons and shits with guns.

Sounds spooky!!
Though I suppose that's where they are, most of the time. We normally only see them when there's roadkill, but normally I suppose they're in the forest, eating dead varmints.

Turkey vultures are amazing, they can run, they nest on the ground, and if predators show up, they projectile their fetid stomach contents at them and stink them away. That's a nature design that's simply wild.

Nice. 'Constitute' I can get to - as the parts substantiate the whole. The whole 'comprising' parts then is like the bigger fish devouring the smaller ones. So to speak...

Ah, thank you! That's a good way to describe it.

Much like the complex (often legal) difference between "heretofore" and "hitherto" - I looked it up because of the Cocteau Twins song "Hitherto".

(Essentially, "heretofore" means up until now, the present. "Hitherto" refers to past events, up until that point.)
