It can mean anything from from financing a project to assisting the artist with songwriting, to actually playing the material for those who aren't really capable of doing so themselves. Often what's called "production" is really a person telling the recording engineer what they want & then taking a large amount of credit & a nice paycheck (some) for it.

It can mean anything from from financing a project to assisting the artist with songwriting, to actually playing the material for those who aren't really capable of doing so themselves. Often what's called "production" is really a person telling the recording engineer what they want & then taking a large amount of credit & a nice paycheck (some) for it.
