↳ Song: "Colourful Chicks" by "Strange Nursery"
that first track sounded like treatment of a vintage recording but this duo, piano & clarinet, seems it was likely Gerard Leckey & Nicholas Stirling performing. Which makes me wonder if the first track was their performing as well.

From Nicholas Stirling's web site, seems he was been active doing music for hire.

Looking at discogs, they only list some copies of an LP that drew from their first 2 cassettes. This cassette is listed as having 1 copy sold once for over $100.

A quick glance over Stirling's website and I didn't see any reference to the Strange Nursery recordings. Maybe he would be amenable to having it shared via Archive.org, or putting on bandcamp to get some small change and keep copywrite, I dunno.

hi everyone! love this window and strange nursery, have them on a comp

there's a strange nursery album I've been looking for called verbal mathematics that doesn't seem to be online anywhere, i only have a 2 or 3 minute excerpt of one of the tracks taped off the radio
Avatar 1:05pm

Hiya, pot80!! Don't know "Verbal Mathematics." Interesting!
Avatar 1:05pm

The Strange Nursery folks are still my close pals, especially, Gerard Leckey. I have fond memories of Xyphotek, the gathering space that made this come together.
Tony, I tagged you and the others on my FB.

Gerard Leckey is in Paris today but he lives in Montreal. He and Martine Matthews ran this space.
I worked at CKLN (the indie radio station that no longer exists) for a while.
Pot80, do you mean CKLN or CIUT?

Tony, I will connect you with Gerard when he returns to Canada. I imagine it is possible to make some of this available.

There was one guy who was an expert at digitizing ancient analogue tapes.Peter Moore was also the producer of The Cowboy Junkies' Trinity Sessions (a wonderful album).
He died very recently.
Moore was remarkably able to take audio tapes that look like lace and coax beautiful historic music from them.

I'm sitting on an archive of masters from a close friend & noise-maker who passed a while ago .. planning to do a reissue campaign to bandcamp -- and weirdly, many of the duped copies from '87ish sound better than the masters...
