I recently watched Winged Migration, the documentary from 2001 about bird migration. It was incredible and there was music by Robert Wyatt and Nick Cave. It reminded me of my encounter with an owl last year. I had to jump out of the way of a barred owl that had just eliminated a squirrel. I was in the way of its exit route. This happened on a suburban street around the corner from where I live. We have a lot of red tailed hawks and turkey vultures around. That was my first owl spotting.

The 1960s and 1970s in particular are known as Kabul's golden era, when the city was a blend of both modern and traditional. These were times when women paired miniskirts and headscarves, people enjoyed personal freedoms, and hippies and travelers flocked to the capital from around the world.

ARGH!! I tried to book tickets for coming shows and was denied because I don't have a cell phone (aka Personal Surveillance Device). First world problems, but still infuriating, especially with Amirtha Kidambi and Angel Bat Dawid playing

Oh, Brian mentioned Evan FD. In latter recentest show he played the gap band. And told us how they got their name, I believe. Anyone else hear? And can confirm the derivation? (Or should I go to wiki? Or archives)

wfmu has played some great new songs of theirs. Paranoid Style played union hall in bklyn, 2017(18?). Great show, awful sound system. I spoke to singer Elizabeth after and bought a tee. She gave me her email and her userid is thinlizzy. Haha

Since I have first hand connection to 9/11, I can tell you had the U.S. Govt. just antyed up a few million dollars to build and support education in Afghanistan after the Soviet-Afghan War, we might never had had to deal with 9/11 & it's 20+ year war that follwed. See the story of real Texas Congressman Charlie Wilson
