Dang - we keep wanting to add that for our safety. we don’t even have a fireplace or woodstove if our electric⚡️power goes out! Clarification: is a “powerwall” similar to an outdoor backup “genrator”? We rarely lose power hear in “the valley” as they oddly label us. Thank goodness 😅

Erik, I also have no other heat source but my oil furnace (with an electric ignition and blower). We RARELY lose power in the village, but last March when we had that intense storm with sub-zero temps and 45 mph winds, I did lose power for 11 hours and it was VERY rough in this old house on the river. With climate-disaster, we should expect more of the same. Yes, the PowerWall is a storage battery that lives in the basement, between the grid and my breaker-box. It keeps itself charged and automatically switches should the grid go down. Green Mtn Power has a good deal. Costs me $45 per month for 10 years, paid in my electric bill. They paid for the installation.

Lines from "Young Frankenstein" often float around in my head. They have so many uses!
Here's a fun story. Many years ago at NYC's Film Forum they showed the original "Frankenstein," dir. by James Whale. During the scene where Fritz (that movie's Igor) goes to the lab to get the brain, gets scared, drops the jar, and then goes to pick up the next one, someone in the audience yelled, "ABBY NORMAL!" and every single person in the theater laughed so hard we fell outta our seats. A classic movie-theater moment!

It all depends. My doctor said she and her family kept their use low and their battery lasted for days. PowerWall comes with an app where you can track your usage any time (even right now) to see which appliances draw the most power, so you can plan accordingly. The app also tells you when you've gone off-grid, and how much juice you have left.
It's pretty damn cool. In my opinion, better than a generator, which is loud and I'd have to handle fuel.

I often sing that song to my dear friend Elaine. "Insane in the Elaine! She's Elaine, got no brain!" It's good she knows I love her. :-D

Thanks to yall at WFMU I have become newly introduced to Dory over the last year+. I was stunned to have never been turned onto her albums until now!
Her psychotherapy motifs are So up my ally! I just found a decent $5.Lp copy of her 1970 album. (smelled a lil musty - but the content sure ain’t!). I gotta find all of em on CD reissues. As well as those fairly recent cd reissues of vintage Bridgette Fontaine.

It is part of my job. I use cultured neurons to mimic neurodegenerative disease. If your purify abnormal proteins from brain and add it to the cells you can reproduce aspects of the disease. I then look for molecules which stop the process. TMI link www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov...

HolyCow🐮! -that sounds like THE perfect solution for us! I had never heard of that simple sounding system solution. We’ve always balked at the gas powered outdoor generator. (I hear they can fail without quite a bit of maintenance upkeep). So super thank uze! Ps: have GMP as well. Solar panels were prohibitive & etc etc. I agree that we are gonna have more of these dramatic weather events! We already have been for 10 years already!

When I found all of the terms it seemed like it was getting parsed a little too fine. Almost a genre for every band.
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 12:20am
tom tom the pipers son:

Egg punk. Egg punk is a mostly internet-based genre that started in Northwest Indiana, influenced by Devo and a hatred for the us vs them mentality of the emerging "chain punk" bands. Egg punk is satirical, danceable, energetic, and deeply cynical of the edgy "hardcore and serious" approach to music.

Ok hi here I am. Egg punk started as an Internet joke, in 2017 someone made a chart that listed various bands on a scale from chain punk (tough aggressive punk) to egg punk (more synthy goofy experimental punk)

Chain punk never took off as an actual subgenre but egg punk did

Before egg punk was called egg punk I personally called it lumpy and the dumpers type bands. That was a band from NYC and their associated label is lumpy records. I don't know if that's where egg punk started but that was when I was first aware of it.

Some people call similar stuff zolo.
