The title track "Girl Happy" was indeed recorded at a slower speed. RCA sped the recording up a bit to make Elvis sound more appealing to the younger fans. The same sped up version is also used in the movie. The original, slower version was not officially released till after Elvis' death in 77.

I knew it. I'm kinda sort of an Elvis aficianado.
