Golden Bug | Autobahn Featuring – Rubén García Kielmannsegge | Piscolabis II | La Belle Records | 2024 | Released Oct 4, 2024. "Started as duo, currently Golden Bug is solo project of French producer, now based in Barcelona (Spain). He is one of the founders of La Belle." //// "Antoine Harispuru, better known as Golden Bug, is a versatile artist whose music uniquely blends electronica with disco dub and psychedelia. With a career spanning over fifteen years, he has collaborated with prestigious labels including La Belle Records, Les Disques de la Mort, Höga Nord, Gomma, Multi Culti, and Kompakt." //////// "Piscolabis II is a super sonic fan where we find the organic and robotic atmosphere of Piscolabis Part I and of course the sound experimentations of Golden Bug. The 10 new tracks presented on this sequel are even wilder and stranger, in the best sense of the word. The rhythms are heavy, the guitars of Lionel from The Limiñanas are razor sharp and the distorted grooves of the drum machines carry curious electronic impulses. //// The introductory track “ Paradis ” with its choral, fairy tale and epic atmosphere, gives way to a series of slow, raw and bewitching tracks, such as “ Red Wolf ” featuring Phoebe Coco , the heady and mechanical “ Ricochet ”, “ L'Effet Domino ” carried by the voice of Anna Jean of the band Juniore , “ Toupie ” which takes us on chloroformed, hypnotic electronic highway , the psychedelic “ Hi No Tori ” with japanese guest Vega Voga , the retro-futuristic “ Autobahn ” embodied by the voice of Ruben Kielmannsegge , “ Poc a Poc ”, which plunges us into the world of acid-western and “ Boomerang ”, surfing the wave of dub in shamarnic hues. //// Piscolabis II builds its own psychological environment to inhabit. And as you sink deeper into it, the music takes on synesthetic turns, with textures swirling all together, igniting the senses. We encourage you to press play, sit back and listen to the album unfold in its entirety." https://goldenbug.bandcamp.com/ | * | 0:07:40 (Pop-up) |
Tricky | Fly To Ceiling feat. /////// "Tricky presents a new album project in collaboration with Parisian producer Mike Theis. Under the name Theis Thaws, an album of glacial electronics and museful tracks was produced in “Fifteen Days”, featuring guest vocal spots from Rosa Rocca-Serra, Run Red Rambo and Lucy La Dusk. //// Second single ‘Fly To Ceiling’ finds Theis Thaws turn in an infectious slice of chugging alternative pop, with French vocalist Rosa Rocca-Serra’s choruses bouncing off Tricky’s delivery to produce one of the album’s many highlights. ///// David Holmes, the celebrated producer & DJ, beefs up ‘Fly To Ceiling’ for an alternate mix. With an illustrious career that kick started in the techno and house scene of Belfast, taking in production duties for Primal Scream, Noel Gallagher and film scores (including Out Of Slight, the Ocean’s trilogy and Killing Eve), Holmes adds some extra flavour to the single." https://tricky.bandcamp.com/ | * | 0:12:05 (Pop-up) |
The Ex | The Evidence | Great! / The Evidence [Single] | Ex Records | 2024 | Released September 9, 2024. "A 45RPM - 7inch single in celebration of The Ex s 45 th anniversary!!!!!! //////// Few bands are as focused on potential challenges, on what is yet to come, as The Ex. Which is pretty remarkable for a band celebrating 45 years of existence, a turbulent journey filled with an impressive series of highlights. However, nostalgia has never been this band’s forte, as they like no other succeed in reinventing themselves, finding new alliances and fascinating challenges along the way. Stay out of that comfort zone for long enough and it just might disappear. //////// So, in 45 years they did more than 2000 concerts in 45 countries. It was time for a new 45rpm 7” single. From the brand-new set they are playing full-on this year, they picked two blinking tracks: ‘Great!’ and ’The Evidence’. Urgent, willful, adventurous, open hearted and joyfully obstinate. As such, The Ex remains true to that one, indestructible adage: forward in all directions!" https://theex.nl/ | * | 0:15:14 (Pop-up) |

The track is taken from their upcoming sixth album, Ventre Unique..." //// Orchestre Tout Puissant Marcel Duchamp are from Geneva, Switzerland. "Founded in 2006 by Vincent Bertholet (Hyperculte), the Orchestre Tout Puissant Marcel Duchamp is a large-scale project. Designed as a real orchestra, the size of the ensemble has varied over time. Now with 12 members, 14 in the past or 6 at the beginning, the ensemble has scoured the stages of Europe to demonstrate that the formula "the more the merrier" has never been more true than on stage." We wanted to prove that we could do it on a record, too. And there’s a whole other side of the band that comes out when we play a stripped-down set. Matt Berry & Kitty Live | I Gotta Limit | I Gotta Limit Single | Acid Jazz | 2024 | Matt Berry looks towards sunny Californian psychedelia for the inspiration behind his upcoming album Heard Noises, which he will release through the Acid Jazz label on January 24. He has also shared a brand new single, I Gotta Limit, the tale a man after a second chance with a woman impatient with his pleading which is inspired by Sly & The Family Stone and features Cameden's Kitty Liv duetting on vocals with Berry. Where 2021's The Blue Elephant echoed Berry's love of British psych, freakbeat, acid rock and late ‘60s pop, Heard Noises opts for a sunnier approach, combining Californian psych with Berry's love of the trippier sounds of space pop and rock. | * | 0:36:09 (Pop-up) |

Erregung Öffentlicher Erregung | Elastisch | Elastisch Single | Schlappvogel Records | 2024 | Erregung Öffentlicher Erregung are from Berlin and Hamburg, Germany. The band Erregung Öffentlicher Erregung enthusiastically draws on music from the early 80s, from Ideal, Nina Hagen and Palais Schaumburg or Malaria!, but also from current bands like Messer or Trümmer. Singer Anja is often compared to the early Annette Humpe in her time with Ideal, the slight cracking of the voice at the end of a phrase, the shouting, sometimes angry. But she did not consciously orient herself towards this. "In terms of singing style, I think I was more influenced by British female punk bands. And I can imagine that Annette did that too." | * | 0:43:29 (Pop-up) |

This is throwback music that steers clear of pastiche by virtue of strong songwriting and a sound that’s matured like a fine Bordeaux. Ultimately this is fantastic main character mood music for the turning of the seasons. If you want to, say, stride through crisp leaves on a bright Sunday in your finest autumnal clothes, there won’t be a record out this quarter that’ll make you feel more debonair." - The Line of Best Fit | * | 0:46:04 (Pop-up) |
Mock Media | Louis Won't Break | Mock Media II | Meat Machine | 2023 | Mock Media is the new Canadian supergroup comprised of Garnet Aronyk (Crack Cloud), Bennett Smith (N0V3L), Austin Boylan (Pottery) and Evan Aesen (Painted Fruits). Mock Media originates in Vernon, British Columbia, a small farming town surrounded by blue lakes and majestic mountain ranges. DIY-spirit within its founding members whose high-wired punk rock stylings serve as Mock Media’s framework to clad their agog explorations into pop, electronic and world folk music and storytelling that chronicles the greater complexities of life. Of the track Aronyk says: "I think it addresses a common theme through our music. It reflects on trying to understand violence and chaos throughout different corners of the world, and not being overcome by nihilism.” | 0:49:18 (Pop-up)
Family Vision | Irony | Plastic Form | Julia's War | 2022 | Family Vision hail from NYC. They're fed up with the state of things but their anger comes from a place of love. Family Vision only ask that you look inward and avoid complacency. Their frantic but focused noise is so damn insistent and pulsing, it feels like a physical call to action and rejection of apathy. There's noise, there's gloom, there's humor, there's melody, and perhaps even something resembling joy or hope. For all of its righteous anger, the record never comes off as anything less than passionate and authentic. | 0:52:19 (Pop-up)

The Fall | The Man Whose Head Expanded (Live) | Fall In A Hole + | Flying Nun / Cog Sinister | 1983 / 2003 | Should it sear your ears, then pardon the feedback through this; but the meat of this song is fantastic. An early 1982 workout of the yet-unreleased track featuring yet-unsacked member Marc Riley. A fantastic version! //// "Recorded at The Fall's second Auckland concert in August 1982, the last on their New Zealand tour. It was released on the Flying Nun label with, what Chris Knox thought was, permission from the group after they played the group the tapes. However, Flying Nun were contacted by the groups Australian publishers and were told it was an 'unauthorised' release. According to Knox the label was ordered to stop exporting it, press no more copies and also pass the profits onto the publishers. It has since received an 'official' release." | 1:07:42 (Pop-up)
Marc Riley | Jumper Clown | Jumper Clown (single) / Cull | In Tape | 1983 / 1984 | A song whose genesis dates back to his days in The Fall. [Keep this organ line in mind as we continue onwards in the set.] --- Originally attributed solely to Marc Riley, though re-released a year later on "Marc Riley With The Creepers – Cull (The Singles Mid '83 - Mid '84)" According to fall sources in the gigography, The Fall's version dates back to as early as1979 when Martin Bramah was in the band. However, the one setlist within the shows listed merely lists the title as "Intro", so it's not really clear if the song actually had any lyrics that related to where Marc Riley would take the subject matter." /// "Animosity between Smith and Riley continued to influence both bands' material. This included the Fall's "Hey Marc Riley" (a rewritten version of Bo Diddley's "Hey Bo Diddley")... Riley responded in kind with his 1983 single "Jumper Clown" – a reference to Smith's then affection for 1970s jumpers – as well as "Snipe" on the 1985 EP Shadow Figure and his own rewrite of a Bo Diddley song: "Marc Riley is a Gunslinger"." | 1:12:29 (Pop-up)
Aloa Input | Oh Brother | Mars Etc. | Morr Music | 2015 | Released March 6, 2015. From Munich, Germany. Though this song has the same title as a Fall single from 1984, it sounds more like the live version (when Marc Riley was still in the band) of The Fall's 1983 single "The Man Whose Head Expanded." Which is fine with me. It's a totally different song overall, but it seems to lean heavily on a few elements from that song. Anyways........ "[They have spoken] of “polyphonic chants from New York to Cape Town,” of “guitar walls from Portland to Düsseldorf and clattering beats from Berlin to Detroit.” Aloa Input – always open to new input and timely, exuberant output – leave our human-plagued planet entirely behind this time: Just one year after the release of their debut album “Anysome” (also shortened by a remix EP), the quote-loving Munich trio returns and shoots through recent music history on their second long-player and further towards the red planet: “MARS ETC.” is condensed earthly hustle and bustle, set theory in sound, a grandly unrestrained, roughly stomping monster, and at the same time a long-overdue update to the Voyager Golden Records of 1977. //// The dazzling-explosive legacy that our three gentlemen leave in their wake was created this time not in the gloomy Berlin February, but on that Croatian island with the Martian name Krk, where singer/bassist Florian Kreier (aka Angela Aux), electronics and drums responsible Cico Beck (aka Joasihno and live member of Ms. John Soda and The Notwist), and guitarist/singer Marcus Grassl quickly converted a lighthouse into a studio to launch themselves and their ever-growing reference universe (from electronic to world music, indie to kraut, hip-hop to folk) into space. //// Mixed and co-produced by heavyweight producer Olaf Opal (who got in touch after a support concert for The Notwist, after which the band completed the finishing touches of the Krk recordings with Opal in the Notwist studio in Weilheim), “MARS ETC.” detonates from the start more like a New Year’s rocket, repeatedly celebrates the “ETC.” and sounds equally like a nostalgia-free retrospective and a restless departure. https://aloainput.bandcamp.com/ | 1:17:29 (Pop-up)
Frustration | Oh ! Brother | The Fall - A French Tribute | Teenage Hate Records | 2019 | Excellent French outfit playing a fabulous Fall song, via a French Tribute album... "11 Reprises de The Fall par la scène Française - Frustration - Michel Cloup - Cannibale - Vox Low - MNNQNS - Dewaere - Le Villejuif Underground..."" Frustration was formed in 2002 by Fabrice Gilbert, formerly of the Dachshunds (vocals), Emmanuel Blevarque (bass), Fred Campo (keyboards), Nicus Duteil (guitar), and Mark Adolf (drums)2. The band released a self-titled debut EP in 2004. They signed to Born Bad Records, and two years later released their debut studio album, Full of Sorrow, in 2006. In 2008, they released their second studio album, Relax, which is characterized by electro2-tinged sounds. At this time, the band shared the stage with Charles De Goal2. In 2016, they released a 45 rpm record entitled Autour de toi, which included their first song in French. In October of the same year, they released a new studio album entitled Empires of Shame, also on Born Bad Records. JEUCE | Hard Butter | Introjeucing | Delicious Clam | 2020 | Jeuce are from Manchester and they are fun, fast, tight garage with silly lyrics yo. I love them. Having supported acts such as Allison Wolfe of Bratmobile and Ian Svenonius’ Escape-ism, Jenn and Bruce have been in bands in the Sheffield and Manchester scenes for too long and as the Peer Hat house band, JEUCE have seen little to no success. And we like it that way, alright? The sound is a mix between loud female vocals and Bossa Nova drums - think Kathleen Hanna fronting the Gories - and song themes range from haemorrhoids to eating from other people's plates in restaurants. | 1:32:19 (Pop-up)
Bench Press | Fun | Personal Best | Poison City | 2024 | Naarm/ Melbourne based wiry, post-punk for modern times. New album 'Personal Best' out AUG 30th via Poison City. They are playing Nov 8 The Old Bar Fitzroy, VIC I would go if I lived there. They've put out splits with Dr. Sure's Unusual Practice and that...is a nice thing. Originally Bench Press formed from two bands. Me and the original drummer used to be in band called Bowel Movement, which I sung for, and then the bassist and guitarist used to be in the band, Luna Deville—they were both crappy pop bands really. Pretty shit stuff. We played a couple of shows together. Bowel Movement broke up first then Luna Deville broke up pretty soon after. For their final show they were doing a B-52’s cover and they had a female singer and they wanted someone to do the male part because none of them could sing. We didn’t really know each other all that well, but they asked me to do it and it went really well. It was a lot of fun! After the show Morgan and Lewis awkwardly asked me, “so, we’re looking to start a new band, it will sound nothing like this. We like Shellac and Jesus Lizard”. | * | 1:33:56 (Pop-up) |
DRILL | Within Reason | Permanent | DRILL | 2024 | Drill hail from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. With Permanent, DRILL has issued a decisively freaky last missive that pans from artful noise pop to dialed in hardcore punk. No matter which number you land on, any roll of the die takes you on a different musical path....Though the album is titled Permanent, everything about it is about a series of goodbyes. Ultimately, even the insert instructs you not to be too precious with it: it contains instructions which direct you to fold the insert into a boat and sail it away. Cheeky as always, the band says goodbye in the only way they know how– the last line of it reads: Remember: Nothing is permanent. | 1:36:09 (Pop-up)
Spray Paint | Fleshy Boy | Into the Country | 12XU | 2019 | Spray Paint hail from Austin Texas. Into The Country' was recorded throughout the year of 2016 in-between touring/working and Cory & Chris moving to Mexico and Australia respectively. Basic tracks were recorded by longtime collaborator Ian Rundell in his studio and then messed with in our practice space at the Monofonus compound in Austin, TX. Chris did most of the heavy lifting. Cory did some of the drum machines, and George was fiddling with some electronic gadgets, with lyrics once again mined from the info wars comment section and various other stressful situations like airports and hospitals. This is the first proper Spray Paint LP since 2016's 'Feel The Clamps' (Goner). Since then collaborations with Protomartyr, Ben Wallers, Ben Mackie, and Dan Melchior have been released. | 1:38:18 (Pop-up)
STEEF | Indulge Me For A Minute | hngryhrnybrkn | STEEF | 2024 | STEEF is a solo project of New Orleans based artist, Stevie Spring. "Written between Summer 2022 and Summer 2023, in this edition of STEEFmusic, I tried to be like Prince and write 30 songs, only using my most favorite group of songs for the album. I don't really know what this album is about, it's 14 periods of time captured between 2022 and 2023. Energetically, I'd say it's fun and absurd escapism with an underlying sense of paranoia, suffering, and angst. There's a lot of variety, elements of new wave, no wave, nu metal, zamrock, zolo, lounge jazz, drums n bass, etc whatever the fuck..." | * | 1:40:56 (Pop-up) |
Karl Kave, Durian | Sterben in Wien | Sterben In Wien | Karl Kave | 2024 | You are going to Wien to die. So says Switzerlands dark electro, psychonaut and often quite humorous magician. Karl Kave weaves homerecording sound with sureal lyrics that reflect living in rural switzerland. Diving into a odd walk of inner repetitions. A friend called it Föhn Wave. A strangely warm Wind from the Alps. There are tales and studies about the Föhn driving people mad. Inducing headaches at least. Where I live is plenty of föhn. I tried to get into a coherent world of phonetical thinking. All decorated by two neglected consumer class synths. The Yamaha TQ5, that looks like a telephone answering machine and the Korg DW6000, the last cheap analog polysynth from back in the days... | * | 1:42:36 (Pop-up) |
